Why do hardcore liberals and some members of the Democratic and Green Parties want to ban guns in America?
Look at Britain...once guns were banned the populace became total pussies and globalists who served the international corporations to allow any worker in.
And Germany's servere to almost restriction home defense guns with all guns need to be kept in some Safe. Gun owners are also subject to continued monitoring by the government with officials able to ask gun owners at any time to enter their private property and check that they are properly storing their weapons.
There is a direct correlation between giving up your gun rights and being a toothless and controlled citizenry, even if symbolically.

The entire purpose of the 2nd Amendment, and the fact it's SECOND right after free speech, is because an armed population is necessary for a free state.
hate to break it to you, but America's military, weaponry and intelligence has evolved just a wee bit since the 2nd amendment was written. a bunch of country boys with their tricked out Glocks, 1911's and semi-auto rifles isn't gonna do shite.
there's no reason to be ashamed to admit that you or anyone else owns guns for hobby or sport. if anyone here seriously goes to buy a gun to protect themselves from our government, they're fricking nuts.
I'm not in favor of most of the democrats silly gun laws, and I'm certainly not in favor of them taking away our guns all together. but to act like we need guns to protect us against our own government is paranoia. and quit with the comparisons to third world countries.

I'd actually think it would be great if cops could sweep the ghetto and check if people registered to have guns had them stored safely and patted people down to see if they aren't carrying them around. No gun where it is supposed to be? Off to jail for a few years (unless reported stolen in the past 60 days or so).
Crime would drop big time.

Never under estimate the population. Yes, the US military would surely have the upper hand, but don't think it's opposition would not be able to find ways to counter it. We've seen it countless times.

People buy guns to protect against robbers, burglars and theives. If you want to include the government in that, okay...I won't argue.
The stats/stories of concealed carry states are chilling - the amount of people who saved themselves from car-jackings, rape and eventually murder...all because they were allowed to conceal carry.

Thank you general for that riveting tactical knowledge.
P.S. You are full of shite. 1.5 million service members vs 55-60 million gun owners spread out over the entire US. I don’t care which way you slice it, those are daunting odds for any military.

and I have zero problem with concealed carry for that reason, read my earlier post (or maybe I posted it in a different thread).
protecting your home or property from intruders is fine, and should be the #1 reason for gun ownership.
including the government in that argument is asinine.

Anytime someone leads with that disclaimer...a guaranteed stupid arse opinion will follow. Good job.

It’s not. And that, my friend, is the entire point of the 2nd amendment.

because our government isn't going to initiate this war. an armed population isn't the deterrent. our 3 part government, with checks and balances is the deterrent.

It's not. Because the 2nd Amendment exists. Besides, I thought this whole conversation was hypothetical.

so we don't need the constitution anymore? Is that what you are saying? The government can pretty much take what they want and when they want so why even bother with the facade? If what you say is true then it shouldn't bother you to get ride of our founding documents, right?

Not if the military cuts off water, gas, electricity. People will be desperate and won't turn to Billy Bob for help but to Uncle Sam.
And if need be in war conditions they can just keep the electricity off and poison the water supply, with fresh water bottles only given out to loyalists.
We haven't even gotten into drones and surveillance capabilities and the governments ability to control the skies and prevent private/commercial air travel.

Against a government armed to the gills, a bunch of people will guns does nothing. Get real.
You are assuming this could be a guerrilla war. What if several states band together and fight each other? Plenty of federal weapons to confiscate in Texas (oh shite, I just got put on "the list").
I know I am describing Civil War II, but...

Which can all be used to subjugate the population. I don't put that much trust in government. I don't believe they will ever turn on us, but I won't say it's impossible.

You know who actually, physically turns all that on or off? Private citizens.

And if all 3 parts of this fantastic government were populated with people who did not have our best interests in mind? Take for instance the backlash against free speech that we’re seeing now. What if the dems controlled the government? They have already made it clear that they want to silence what they consider hate speech. How would you stop them?

They should turn to Billy Bob. I can keep you alive without any of those things...and I won’t ask for your soul in return like Uncle Sam would.
