Who is defending anything?

A few people have pointed out that coffee doesn’t cost $5 at Starbucks. That’s it. I think you’re tilting at windmills on this one

The irrational Starbucks hatred is a stupid line.

Right wingers don’t drink coffee? Where is this childish thinking coming from?

Everyone knows yoga pant wearing MILFs in deep red suburbs only drink gas station coffee

What is the draw?

-They are in high pedestrian-traffic areas
-A plethora of options from basic black to whatever sugar bomb sorority girls like
-Free Wifi and they typically don't mind you staying there for a while after you buy something
-They are in dominantly dense areas. Typically, the more dense the population, the more liberal they are

Seems pretty obvious why it is popular.

In the midwest, Caribou Coffee replaces Starbucks, but it's the same thing.

One correlation is gender. Women lean left compared to men. Starbucks' clientele is majority female. You may not notice it as much inside but check out the drive thru.
Women like SB because they can get a huge dose of sugar....whipped cream, ice cream, chocolate syrup, etc. With just a teensy bit of coffee. Then they feel like 'all I had this morning was a cup of coffee.'

I only go there when it's the convenient option (inside of a Kroger or Target) or when there's free coffee available (Veteran's Day). There's a local chain that's across the street from the closest Starbucks to me, I'll go there if I'm in the mood for $3 coffee. DD and Love's are the two most frequent options I use when I don't have the time to make my own. With an Aeropress, electric kettle, and whichever bag Community Coffee I've picked up on sale it's not often I go anywhere for coffee. I've been casually looking on CL and Marketplace for a suitable old dresser or desk to build into a coffee bar for my bedroom anyway. Something I can plumb for a filtered water tap and power for an extra mini fridge I have collecting dust. Probably my kegerator and brewing setup next to it too...

Starbucks plain coffee is kind of shitty. Their espresso drinks are pretty good and the breakfast food isn't bad in a pinch

I can promise you that nowhere in the Starbucks marketing department are they segmenting target markets by politics.
