Evidently their constituents like them. Maybe a better question is how do they get their appointments like they do once they get re-elected.

Republican voters largely aren’t any different than democrat voters in this way. They see R and maybe have some familiarity with the name and vote.

From what I’ve seen if you get a seat in congress you’re pretty safe as they won’t ever pass term limits, they get to go to the leader for campaign money, and they’re likely bought off by someone to get there that no one else has access to compete.

I don’t think a MAGA candidate has legitimately lost ever. In any state, in any race.

In the case of Tillis, NC is a purple state so it’s tough to get a strong conservative there. It looks like the next senator replacing him will be a Democrat. In the case of Thune it may simply be name recognition and his ability to “bring home the bacon”.

I watched the Joe Rogan show with Billy Bob Thornton. He would be a decent pick 
He said I always take time to talk to folks when they approach me, hell they put my kids through school with their support, why wouldnt I.

You should mostly worry about this if you are a resident of North Carolina or South Dakota. But if you aren't, it is time to find and support the next generation of politicians. That means primary'ing these guys and elect someone better. The democrats are doing it. They need to be primary'd and voted out. Just like Cassidy and Cornyn.
