The spigot of free money is slowly being turned off and the cost to float debt is becoming higher and higher.

Because the stock market isn’t a good indicator of economic health. Never has been and never will be, no matter what one’s favorite politician or talking head might say to the contrary.

Profit takers in trade issues, the Fed intervening, China offloading debt bonds. All to make us look weaker economically than we are. Mind you, we have weak areas and they're being exploited for gain.

There is a massive asset bubble that has been building since 2011. The correction was always dependent on FED tightening monetary policy, how much tightening would cause a correction and how much of a correction would occur are, and still are, the unknown.

Just wait till it hits your home prices. Or wait for the FED to cave.

Because of the results of the election in the House, mainly. It started just prior to that based on projections.

Also the correction in overvalued tech companies has been building for a while too.

Several rounds of quantitative easing, printed money to prop up the Jug Ears regime, will eventually cause a big reset.

Yeah but that was also around the time we realized there was a sub-prime bubble about to burst.

I do agree though that the Dems taking the House has probably had a negative effect on the market as it waits to see just how much they raise taxes.

Can you explain that a little more deeply? Is it that businesses are sitting on too much product, buying has slowed, both, neither?

Main Street is doing well.

Wall Street, not so much.

Obama used to tell us that Main Street is the correct indicator to be concerned with.
