Looking around, I feel like we lost.
I think World War One damaged Western society in a way that I don't understand, and we're looking at the results of it.

We did.
A lot of the current stuff we're seeing is just a new generation wanting to be like the Hippies of the 60's. They pay lip service to a lot of nice ideals (peace, love, no war etc) and think themselves profound, but that's mostly because they've never faced a serious threat to their existence and bubbles. For the hippies, as America progressed and grew after the end of WW2. For today's airheads, they never lived in the fear of the USSR. They don't even understand the depths of their naivete. They think they can "do" something just by expressing outrage.
The biggest difference is that the Democrat party has made far better use of these useful idiots, than anyone did with the hippies.

That's not what it says at all.
If you think winning the Cold War means that no nation will ever be aggressive again, well, that's just silly.
The Soviet Union was the greatest threat to the United States in the entire 20th century, and we outlasted them until they fell apart.
Of course bad actors will continue to do bad stuff...as much as we let them, which is why "Muh Merca First" is such a fool's paradise.
But we'll have to let them run free for a long time before they rise up and consolidate into the threat that the USSR was in the last half of the 20th century.
I fear that we are determined to do just that because of idiots like Tucker Carlson.
