A lot of the immigration debate centers around illegal aliens voting in violation of the law.

Do you believe we should add additional restrictions on who can vote, or simply enforce the laws we already have?

I am generally in favor of the latter, but I would add a restriction against people who habitually commit misdemeanors (traffic violations excluded) to the existing restriction on convicted felons.

Me. Just me.

Then Ron Paul would be President and Rand Paul would be Vice President.

We all win.

Property owners only - all things property tax related

Tax paying citizens - all non property tax related items.

Both rule out illegals.

I'd be in favor of actual enforcement of the current laws. The thing that really burns me up is when the lefties have a litter of kittens about voter ID laws, on the premise that they're "raaaaaaaaaaaacist."

In every state in the union you can get a non-driver's license ID FOR FREE. So long as you can prove you're who you are. But that's the crux of the matter, isn't it?

OH is on the right track with their purge of non-voters and, you know, dead people.

There should be a basic test at the voting booth to determine whether the voter is familiar enough with the candidates to make an informed decision.

Everyone over 25, but only if they've accrued over 150K in non assistance income by then. 7 years avging 22K/year. Can't manage that? Sorry Charlie.

Would eliminate dumb "college educated" people with 0 real world experience as well.

any legal citizen that can summarize the 3 legislative branches and explain their roles in passing legislation.

i'm pretty sure that would eliminate more of the populace than any other metric.

This is actually a huge sticking point of mine. The example is crude, but effective: You don't let your dog dictate the type of food you buy. When it gets hungry enough, it'll eat.

Allowing folks who are on the dole from the state/Feds to participate in the process of who can give them the most stuff is a losing proposition. Every time.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.

Adding new laws and restrictions would probably end up being as short sighted as Harry Reid's nuclear option. Might get what you want today and then bite you in the arse tomorrow and the next day and the next day.

Anyone over 21 years of age who also pay at least $20,000 in federal income taxes/year.

Just enforce the laws we have now. We have enough legislation.
