That won’t be how it goes down if there’s a deal
With the Dems. They’ll pick a terrible Republican.

I’m not sure any Dems will vote for a Republican, even a RINO. I may be wrong.

I don’t think they can vote as they are no longer members of the House.

former members, and actually any citizen, can be Speaker. I thought trump should have run on that.

Only because they were "R's", if they were Dims they would still be able to vote

Might want to read the OP’s question again, seems you missed an important detail.

Even worse, Hakeem Jeffries goes to 20-25 Democrats and directs them to vote for McCarthy with no strings attached and promises them all types of goodies in 2025. He probably figures that the House is still in play especially for the 2024 election.

Democrats support McCarthy.....McCarthy gets screwed long term, the Freedom Caucus gets totally emasculated and Jeffries becomes Speaker in 2025. If I were Jeffries I would be contemplating just that. Moderate risk.....high reward.

Then Republicans, GOPe and Freedom Caucus, are truly screwed

It's not out of the realm of probability.

Don’t know that you could pull that off. I would hope there are enough republican defectors from Mcarthy to thwart that. If there aren’t I hope it happens just so we’re totally clear on where things stand.
