There’s one video out there that has police milling around. Some even exiting the very area that you’re saying they were drawing a line of defense.
They even move away from this Maginot line we know as a window and door seconds before the shooting.
There’s two different arguments that are being conflated. What Ashli did wasn’t smart. Her animating principles were misguided. None of that is a de facto justification for shooting her. “frick around and find out” is not in the Capitol Police’s use of force policy.
Police use of force requires an immediate threat. Your feelings about QAnon and Stop the Steal isn’t a substitute for that.

That video also shows the police side stepping and allowing the protestors to start breaking down the doors without so much as a word. If there was a clear and presence threat to Congress or to the Vice-President, those cops should have had plenty of back up and they should have had their guns drawn warning people to stay back.

Not me. I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy in this particular shooting. Had the roles been reversed and had this been a BLM protest, that cop's name would be plastered all over the news for shooting and killing an unarmed woman. Two things can be true at the same time: Ashli Babbitt was where she wasn't supposed to be and Ashli Babbitt would have been plastered all over the news for weeks had her political leanings swung the opposite direction.

The officers were standing idly by.
There is no evidence the man who murdered Babbitt was an officer of any sort. There is not strong evidence, other than age, that he wasn't. There is also no evidence Babbitt saw him there. He certainly said nothing prior to the kill shot.
