Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in this history of mankind.
Mankind -- that word should have new meaning for all of us today.
We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore.
We will be united in our common interests.
Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation.
We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.
And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:
"We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!
We're going to live on!
We're going to survive!"
Today, we celebrate our Independence Day!

that's a hell of a euphemism for "gave black people freedom." Call me crazy but I think the freed slaves were grateful for it.
Except the Emancipation Proclamation was only written for Southern Slaves. Ironic that he gets credit even though he was still cool with slaves in the North during the war.

Jefferson may have authored the Declaration, but his biggest accomplishment was beating out Alexander Hamilton in a power struggle to shape the identity of the nation. Hamilton was a big govt idealist who wanted us to be just like Great Britain, even though we had declared independence only a couple decades before. Jefferson pushed the idea of state’s rights and small govt. Jefferson ended up being president, and Hamilton spiraled down and eventually died in a duel with the Vice President at the time

Franklin D. Roosevelt
Just a snippet of what he took on. The Great Depression, The Dust Bowl. The Bombing of Pearl Harbor and the US entry into WWII, oh and Polio.
Elected for 4 consecutive terms and died in office on his 4th.

More self-serving revisionist history. Yes it was only directed at Southern slaves. It was a shrewd and pragmatic decision designed to hurt the Confederacy, so no it was not the purely idealistic measure kids are taught in school like you say. But he didn't want to overstep the limits of the Presidency regarding the union states by making some fiat, so he pressed for a constitutional amendment abolishing slavery instead. The 13th amendment doesn't exactly reconcile with your statement that he was 'cool with slaves in the north during the war.' Don't get me wrong, Lincoln's primary focus for most of his presidency was preserving the union, NOT abolishing slavery, but he was instrumental in the abolition of slavery even if you all want to engage in all sorts of pretzel logic to deny it.

Anyone who experienced life in America during LBj, Nixon, Ford, and Jimmy Carter will clearly say that Ronald Reagan was tGOAT POTUS. It was like coming out of a severe depression and being born again, if for no other reason then he made us believe in ourselves again, and he handled himself and the office with such class and dignity. The Gipper will always be tops in my mind.
Well, he was an actor.
He also started the tax-cuts-make-everyone-rich nonsense that began the huge deficits we have today and will probably end up bankrupting the country before I'm dead, given that the GOP can't stop chasing that unicorn no matter what.

DGAF about gun control
You do realize that Reagan as Cali governor promoted and signed the Mulford Act that banned gun carry in public right?
quote:
commented that he saw "no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons" and that guns were a "ridiculous way to solve problems that have to be solved among people of good will." In a later press conference, Reagan added that the Mulford Act "would work no hardship on the honest citizen."[7]

Name a politician who doesn’t have to act.
I’ll take an actor over a lawyer turned complete bullshite artist politician. I’ll also take an actor over a community organizer.

George Washington. He was offered the title of King of America, and declined.

Ehh, I tend to agree that Reagan is overrated, but he's still a solid president. Relative to his predecessors for nearly half a century, he was really good.

Reagan framed gun control around the Black Panthers and Republicans jumped on board. Smart guy.

Eisenhower, Madison, Monroe. Our three best presidents
Lincoln: easily the worst. Gets amazing PR for having his brains blown out
John Wilkes Booth: American Hero
