Since you didn’t specify: Economically it’s already having a strong effect. If the international panic doesn’t dissipate soon, we could face a global recession. China did a masterful job of fanning the flames. Wonder what their end game is? Bring down Trump?

BIG threat? No.

Not worried about the virus itself at all, more worried about panic and overreaction amongst the masses when community spread starts occurring here in the US.

Panicked people will wipe out a grocery store quick and act irrational to the detriment of society as a whole and do more damage than the virus. That's not to mention the stock market overreaction that's already occurring.

That's already caused the major damage from this. As in past tense.

People are going to keep waking up. The thing may spread, some, in the West, but bodies will not be stacking up and folks will forget about all this around Memorial Day. Now, it may get a second wave in the Fall when temperatures drop again, but they'll have a vaccine in production and reasonably available by then. The economic impacts will be long gone by then.

a-hole, wash your hands, cover up when you cough, bathe regularly, eat right, drink orange juice and don't hang out in malls airports and cruise shop terminals .....oh yeah, don't eat sauteed baby rats or bats.

You know, the same shite you do to protect yourself from the flu most any other time.

TDS gonna go thermonuclear when the Fed drops rates and the economy hits light speed as a result.

Like... how does your already irrational desire to hate on the president beyond all logic let you just give up all your brain function like this?

When did he say this? Link it or STFU.

“It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear,” Trump told attendees at an African American History Month reception in the White House Cabinet Room.

It will be as big of a threat to the U.S. as Mad Cow, the Bird Flu and Zika.

I think it is somewhere in between OP's concern and the fear mongering media's concern

It's almost as if he's privy to information about the issue that isn't readily available to the public.

I haven't noticed a dip in flight prices. I'm hoping that changes soon.

How many trillions were lost in a matter of days with those vs this? That factor alone has proven it is a bigger threat. Is the media overblowing this? Of course. Are some nitwits underestimating it potential? Absolutely.

What if I said its a big enough threat that we need to block/monitor/check travel?

Would you ignore me (and Trump)?
