Why do Republicans want to save babies in the womb but will gleefully let them starve, be homeless and not get any education once they are born?
Republicans are more charitable with their own money to help people.
Democrats are more charitable with taxpayers/govt money.
Anyone that says they need these programs already get free food, but are to lazy to feed their own kids with other peoples money. It's a head scratcher to think that you lefties don't see how your govt cheese approach doesn't fix the problem.

It’s not only the left that thinks totally eliminating Head Start is a bad thing. I’m all for it being run by the states but it is a valuable program that should be continued

This is a failed program that has no positive benefit for the kids in it.
The only thing it does is make a few contractors richer.
The money can be more beneficially used elsewhere.

And your first hand experience with the program is what?

Why are you so emotional? You need to work so self regulation instead of bleeding all over this board. I’m serious

What do you think should be cut? Be very specific.

Oh no!!! Where will all the H1-B Indians send their kids?

2 minutes of research on grok:
"Exact percentages of Head Start participants who escape poverty vary across studies, but a key finding from a 2021 study by Bailey, Sun, and Timpe indicates that children who participated in Head Start between 1965 and 1980 were 23% less likely to live in poverty as adults compared to similar non-participants. For women, the reduction was even higher at 31%. Another analysis suggests that Head Start graduates are 12% less likely to be in poverty in adulthood."
If we are objectively talking about return on investment, this is an absolute failure.
But infinity money is OK to spend if it gets just one child out of poverty, right?

What value does it provide?
It’s not educational value.
Are you for Federal giveaways for daycare?

I am getting kind of tired of these kinds of announcements. If the government wants to really slash spending, start with the 8 trillion dollar gorillas in the room: Military spending / Social Security/ Medicaid/ Medicare.

Do you have a dollar amount for every program the government funds? I don't.
There are some obvious wasteful expenditures by the White House that should never have been made before recommending cutting Head Start, imo.
Trump Administration Spent $1.75 Million on Furniture and Renovations to the Oval Office
US President has already spent $10.7 million of taxpayer money to play golf since returning to the White House last month,
So where was the liberal outrage when Biden spent the most time as any President on vacation and not working while in Delaware (unlike Trump when he is at his own home in Florida playing on his own golf course)? Do you not think it is just a tad hypocritical?

Gonna cost me almost 40k a year if they eliminate it.

So no first hand experience, got it. I have had numerous foster kids attend Head Start and it’s always been beneficial to every one of them.

The data clearly shows that the benefit of Head Start as an educational program vanishes by around 3rd grade. And students from that point forward exhibit no difference whether they attended head start or not.

How many 3-5 year old kids do you have?!

And as I said, the benefits of the program go beyond just academics

Academically. The study didn’t measure social skills, self-esteem or any other factors that significantly impact one’s life.
