Which side of the table does "The Empire" represent?
Posted by James11111 on 11/25/22 at 5:22 pm

Let's use "Andor" as the base. Do you consider the empire as socialist or Conservative?
Couldn't figure out which board to put this on to get a legit data sample. This one seems the best.

The Empire is an authoritarian regime.
The other side is a bunch of freedom loving Americans that believe in guns and what many believe to be an outdated religion.

Well the Empire was modeled after the Nationalist Socialist Worker’s Party party of Germany.

...only one side is actively working for total domination and control.
This is easy to see.

I don't think it represents a specific side. I think it's what happens when either side gets too much power.

Its hard to do "sides" with a straight authoritarian state.
The USSR and the Nazis would be considered "opposite" on the left/right spectrum. They both murdered millions of their own populations. I dont find the left/right dichotomy useful in these cases. They're shitty abd evil governments, period.
The Empire is authoritarian, so falls in the shitty and evil side of things.

The Galaxy was objectively better with the Empire. There was endless war before and lawlessness after. The Galaxy was mostly peaceful during Imperial times except for extremist rebels (space Al-Quaeda). The Empire also employed hundreds of thousands if not millions and ensured a stable galactic economy. If I was an average guy in the Star Wars universe, I really wouldn’t care that the Empire was run by “bad guys”. It’s not like 99% of people would see a Jedi or Sith anyway. Just my 2¢.

And when one side gains too much power, the other side will fight back. We are at the tipping point.

The Empire is based and their “atrocities” were provoked by the terrorists who called themselves “rebels”.

I encounter civilians like you all the time. You believe the Empire is continually plotting to do harm. Let me tell you, your view of the Empire is far too dramatic. The Empire is a government. It keeps billions of beings fed and clothed. Day after day, year after year, on thousands of worlds, people live their lives under Imperial rule without seeing a stormtrooper or hearing a TIE fighter scream overhead.

Star wars is a western as written
Han is a libertarian gunslinger
Chewie an oppressed native person
Luke a salt of the earth farmboy ( European immigrant)
Lea a traditional old 300-Western royalty ( Daughter of first-wave settlers)
Obi-Wan a circuit preacher
the robots Gabby Hayes
Darth Corrupt Sherrif
but after Disney
Empire is Trump
Rebels transgendered warriors

There’s an argument that the empire’s goal of total domination reeks of Socialism/Democrat ideals. However, Republicans have been swooning over dictators as of late, so I dunno, it’s a toss up.
