Where on Earth did Minnesota's winter go? The State Climatology Office has been looking for proof of this iconic season's existence since early December 2023, but was only able to find are some traces of it that were left on the ground during mid-January, before melting away during yet another heatwave. A brief resurgence in mid- February brought snow and hope to southern Minnesota, but vanished within days, and a late-month flourish lasted 36 hours before being chased away by yet another warm spell.

Oh, it's right here:

Icy roads left in the wake of this week’s winter storm are prompting some school districts across Minnesota to cancel classes, move to online learning or start classes two hours late on Wednesday, March 27.

It’s the third consecutive day of school delays and cancellations across the state.

Here’s a rundown of Wednesday’s delays and cancellations:

Yep. Used to be referred to as “2nd” or “late” winter before the loonies decided there was to be a perfect climate with no deviations.

Back in the old days, we called it weather.

Haha!

Atmospheric Rivers. I guess the old Pineapple Express wasn’t ominous enough.

I’m so sick of the climate change grift.

I’m in the belief that 70 daytime and 55-60 nighttime year around is great up north. I’m pretty much good with that in the south except on coastline. Bring on the climate crisis

I shouldn't, but I really do hate those people. It's so disingenuous, it would be like me writing a story of the unusually cold winter south Texas is having when we were in the 20's for those 2 days. These stories are meant to prey on the gullible and weak minded.

It's not even some secret that we're in El Nino. Anyone with any mild interest in meteorology knows this

The biggest downside to mild Minnesota winters is the lack of mosquito kill. They grow some biguns up there normally, with mild winters they’re huge.

It was 43 when I left the house in shreveport.

I Venmo'd John Kerry some money in hopes he could help. I should probably throw away the ribeyes in my fridge and walk to the store later to buy some gas-X so I don't fart and make the weather even more perilous

Yep. In August the meteorologist made the correct predictions for this past winter. Milder temps in the north and cooler and wetter in the south. In other words, El Nino.

This had the biggest effect on weather worldwide. It should last for another 3 - 4 years while dissipating.

Really I can see benefits to climate change, if it means frozen areas like Alaska, Minnesota and northern New England are warmer. Who wouldn't prefer living in places that aren't iced over 9-10 months a year?

The real terror over a changing climate is the melting of ice caps and glaciers, and flooding of coastal cities the world over. And subtropical latitude cities becoming illivable due to intolerable summer heat and humidity, and increasingly worse drought and hurricanes.

Not going to happen any time soon unless a super volcano erupts or we are hit by a meteor.

Last time I was Minneapolis, it was a clear sky, sunny day, and the temperature rose to ZERO at noon.
