The confusion seems to be yours, in that the 2A isn't about having a deer rifle for hunting, and a shotgut to protect your family. It's about having the tools necessary to protect and defend our liberty. When you add in the fact that banning AR-15 rifles will do absolutely nothing to protect kids the next time a nutjob becides to go on a killing spree, there is absolutely no valid reason to remove the best tool for the defense of liberty from the law abiding.

I will accept a few random deaths to ensure that Americans have the freedom and ability to stand up to a tyrannical government if that time ever comes. I don't want my children and grandchildren to ever experience life under a communist regime or dictatorship. Your number of 1000 schools is an absurdly exaggerated number used only to invoke an emotional response.
And for the record, I would happily give up one of my semi-autos if it meant no school shooting would ever happen again. I have others and can replace it.
