Rifles and shotguns are for protecting your property and putting food on the table. Sane civilians should be able to own and use these.

The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with putting food on the table.
So rifles are in your mind for putting food on the table, but "assault rifles" are for killing people.
So I'm assuming you would say an AR-15 is an "assault rifle". What about a Mini-14? Is that an "assault rifle"? What about a Browning BAR? Is that an "assault rifle"?
