It's very strategically located.
It has many natural resources.
It only has 65000 residents so a) there aren't many to object and b) no influx of new, poor, uneducated Americans.
Expansion of America would actually be an enormously positive sign that America is not declining.
If "climate change is real," Greenland is set to become more desirable and liveable real estate over the next several decades.

The US can get everything we want from Greenland without having to "buy it". The only reason I can think of that we would want to seize control of Greenland is if we were thinking about leaving NATO. That would probably jeopardize our privileged access for military purposes.
