re: What’s the off-ramp in Iran?

Where are you seeing this? Hezbollah is closely tied to their politics I don’t see this ever happening.
It was being reported on last night. What happened here is that Israel warned the Lebanese government before this all began that if they allowed Hezbollah to get involved in this that they would retaliate bigly. And they did. So the Lebanese government started rounding up and attacking Hezbollah themselves. It's either that or let Israel keep bombing civilian infrastructure, which is what they were doing.
These countries are watching what's happening in Iran and even Venezuela and realizing, "shite, that could easily be me too."
The US/Israeli strategy is working.

If tweet fails to load, click here. There goes more of the Iranian missile launch capabilities up in smoke. Also part of their ability to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed.

Just pray that in 10 years you have a President willing to knock them back to no-nukes square one.
If we just let the same/a similar regime take back over, I have to imagine China is going to exert a lot more influence in that version of Iran
Assuming that the conflict ends with an Iranian government that is not friendly to the USA and Israel, why would China have any more influence? China's military technology has already proven to be vastly inferior to American and Israeli equipment. China has proven to be an unreliable ally. China was buying Iranian oil on the cheap because of the sanctions, why would Iran continue to sell oil to them for a discount if China can't provide them with good military equipment or reliable support?

Why do people keep asking this same ridiculous question. Bombs are still falling and they have been advised to stay out of the streets until it is safe to do so.
This is not staying out of the streets. This was today.

what’s the deal with the Iranian people
good question - but I think they have been instructed to stay in their homes = too dangerous to try any massive outside groups.
I hope that's the situation anyway -
edit - just saw later reports on that massive demonstration supporting new regime - same ol shite
if true - f'em

Even if you had 80% support a new/secular regime, 20% of a population being hardcore, extremist Muslims is going to derail that plan, and that's ignoring how the struggle will become the beacon for all Shia jihadists globally to come in and cause chaos
regrettably - that is what I fear will happen -

Yeah, the problem with that is they live to die. They want to die for their cause.
Then give them what they want.

what’s the deal with the Iranian people? do they want regime change or not? if they miss this opportunity, then I never want to hear about liberating them ever again
They are bombing the shite out of everything right now. They should hunker down.

there is no off ramp. a few weeks ago trump tweeted to the iranian people hang on, help is on the way. iranians don't give up even after trump kills their leadership. now trump call iranians the most evil people on earth. he has begun to demonize them. the war won't end until iran says so. so trump will end up nuken them.LINK great article by paul craig roberts. worth a read.

Same mentality as the dickheads on this forum constantly whining that Trump isn't getting enough done, when he has done more in a year than any president in since WWII. People have no concept of how the world beyond their computer screen works.

The military takes over from the IRG.
Cease fire. Israel pissed.
Slow march to parliamentary elections.
Best case as I see it.
Worst case nothing much changes but Iran is neutered for decades.

Revolution is not happening. The Islamic regime doesn’t look to be going anywhere
What I hope is happening is this- Reza Pahlavi, or someone else we may not have heard of in the West, is behind the scenes making plans with contacts inside Iran right now, and also spending millions with someone like Palmetto State Armory (we've seen PSA lowers in footage in Ukraine, so don't scoff). They're lining up hundreds of thousands of low-cost weapons to be shipped over to the region, and then dispersed internally to their own cells.
At some point in a timeframe coordinated with our military but not broadcast on our news, the bombings scale back and the Pahlavi supporters reappear, armed this time, and start taking control of various regions. Once there's a reasonable foothold established, Pahlavi appears in-country and announces the revolution is on, and we continue- bombing the regime, then his revolutionaries take control of that region and we ease back there, focus on another region.
Not sure where his point of ingress would be; he needs a spot to start from. Which border, or which coastal area would be best. We assume Iraqi border, but this war between Pakistan and Afghanistan raises some questions on whether it may be somewhere over there, that side of the country. Maybe someone is forcing the Taliban to pull back/ignore Afghan border with Iran, and while the media dwells on the other sites we're moving stuff in through there.
