At this point I'm not sure those regulations would work well for Americans who own a home. You'd essentially devalue the market by forcing everyone to flood it. Think about how many houses blackrock would put up for sale. This massive increase in supply would absolutely make houses cheaper and drive all property values down.

Essentially while you'd force big investors in housing to cash in at a discount, you'd also destroy the equity of all the single family home owners putting many people upside down in their house.

Fundamentally housing cannot be an investment vehicle and something affordable for all. If America wants to change from investment vehicle to affordable for all it would take some serious policy shifting.

reducing zoning restrictions and ignoring NIMBYs is the answer.

This is the way though. We should do this and watch a housing boom.

I think you should be limited to 1000 sqft per home.

Why does anyone need a home bigger than that?

I’ve had 3 homes. If I can afford them it’s not anyone else’s business

I have been reeducated.

No need for different colors or styles of clothing either. Dark gray jumpsuits for all.

And food doesn’t need seasoning. Bland builds character.

Cars cost less than 10% of homes. It is not the same.

Pretty sure it was a metaphor to show how ludicrous your proposal is.

The answer to the housing crisis is simple we need more housing created at a lower price point. The volume can help lower prices but probably won't be enough alone. It needs to be cheaper to build houses. We need to be thinking about things like...

How do we simplify parts of the process and reduce labor?

How do we reduce material costs?

What if we brought back boarding house situation?

What type of housing situations do we need? Everyone can't manage or afford a single family home themselves.

We need more housing of different kinds to accommodate more situations vs trying to push everyone into single family homes as a goal.

To Trump's credit he had an executive order asking for some of this by removal of redtape but I haven't seen anything come of that yet.

but your average person doesn't have what it takes to buy a home today. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

You sir are a dumba$$. Average person can buy a home, however they might not be able to buy the fancy half million $$$ house they want but they can buy a house. They can easily buy houses that are lower price or maybe needs sweat equity but that doesn't look good on YouTube and instagram.

Same with cars.

However I guess you would just like the government to give you a house and car

So you think it's ok that some people stay life long renters, and there is nothing wrong with home ownership being permanently out of reach?

I’ve read some crazy opinions on here before but this very well could be the craziest. Congratulations. How about fishing poles or guns? You can only use one at a time. Kind of unfair for people who can’t afford one to have to see people owning two. I know people that have two bathrooms in their house that seems kind of wasteful. Hell some of the houses people build are pretty big. Really should be illegal to build a house over 1200 square feet. The average home size in 1950 was 928 sq ft. That should probably be the standard.

Rental caps through HOAs is a much more palpable idea that making it illegal for people to own more than one home.

Tie the limitations to the property, not the people.

I absolutely believe some people will be life long renters. And I believe it's the right financial fit for a lot of folks who would struggle to pay for maintenance and upkeep on their home anyways.

I also support creating more reasonable and affordable housing, I don't think a 1 home limit and preventing of companies from owning housing is the answer though. As I stated earlier we should be reducing the NIMBY Bs and zoning in order to create more housing to lower costs
