18th amendment (only amendment repealed)

the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

Passed by Congress June 4, 1919, and ratified on August 18, 1920, the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote. The 19th amendment guarantees all American women the right to vote.

There is no single one.
Medicare
Medicaid
Social Security
19th Amendment
1965 Civil Rights Act
and of course The Patriot Act.

So as not to repeat some good answers already posted I'll go with the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.

Income Tax. Might have been ok if it was flat rate for all but it has become nothing but a way for the politicians to wander to the lower paid and to confiscate wealth.

The 17th amendment. So much of the bad legislation that has happened in the past 100 years would not have been considered if the collective states had a voice in the legislative process.

Income tax.

This times a bazillion. The creation of the income tax is what eventually gave way to the power of the IRS as well as the funds necessary to create the many wealth redistribution programs we see so terribly abused today. It's also the means by which so many other obnoxious agencies are funded (like the often-mentioned Patriot Act).

Without that money, none of the rest of this shite gets done and the federal government loses much of its power.

Fugitive Slave Act was pretty bad.

They mucked up the XIVth Amendment really badly.

Women's Suffrage is way, way up there.

Can't pick any one as the worst--there have been so many bad ones.

Consider the various declarations of war--Was the Spanish American war a good war??

How about the funding of the Viet Nam war and the two Iraqi wars?

Even the Civil War--could slavery have been solved in a better way like it was in Brazil and Europe?

The Income Tax.

Then of course there are the bills they failed to sign--the biggest being a balanced budget amendment and perhaps the civil rights act of 1957 (how may riots would that have prevented?).

Watts and 1968 were all after the 1964 CRA.

Naturalization Law of 1802. Naturalization Act of 1798 was good enough. The 1802 law was ok, but anything after that was a bridge too far.
