Is it because they believe they can make the world a better place? Is it because they think they know better? Is it because they are all just egomaniacs? What kind of personality does someone need to want to have control over another person?

Pass legislation favorable to big business to thwart competition from new and emerging business.
Politicians do their bidding because they are paid off and new and emerging business usually cannot afford the lobbying that big business can afford.
The incentive is money. Always money.
Examples of congressional acts big business loves:
-open borders. (Cheap labor and more customers.)
-war.
-"free trade" (usually only free into the U.S. not free into the trading partners' country).

Yea, I’ve studied and analyzed this stuff for years. I suspect the real reason behind all of this is the growing population against their estimates for resources. They can’t actually bring the rest of the world up to the standards of the west. We would blow through our resources at a very quick pace. They are all insanely obsessed with population. I don’t think anything is off the table for them to address what they see as a massive threat. They openly talk about this stuff

I vaguely remember studying the derivation of the Malthusian population growth model in my DE class a long time ago. IIRC, with the current resources, birth and death rate the the human population will max out at 12.5 billion around 2060 and flatline at that point.

Right. I actually thought it was going to go down after it continues to go up for a little while. The problem is that isn’t nearly enough for these psychopaths. The haircut they want to see isn’t a haircut. I’ve seen a few dozen of these holes call for numbers where you can safely say a maximum of 2 billion people left is a conservative estimate, but most of them want to cut the population to a number that is even lower

I would imagine with the money and power it brings to do pretty much whatever you desire, a lot of them get a God complex.
When you have such people getting together, holed away from the unwashed masses and getting high off of sniffing each other’s farts, you’re going to eventually end up with some pretty wild and dangerous shite (for the rest of us) that they cook up amongst themselves.
