Again—the federal government told her she could stay

There’s no reason to deport her after all this time. Seems bad faith and arbitrary.

Odd use of laughing emoji when backed into a corner is a go-to response here.

She hasn’t been deported. She’s been detained. Maybe everything checks out and she stays.

They gave a stay in her removal order. Do you know what that means?

Granting a stay was a gift. Why stay the order? Not bad faith. Definitely arbitrary. You’re just in the wrong side of this one. You should be used to that.

Sucks for her because I would assume her current 35 year marriage with a child is legit, but 1980s Donna screwed it up for 2025 Donna.

Absolutely moronic to reach back that far for something like this, when there are far worse people who need to go. But I suppose that is a reason

5 second Google search and it turns out:
quote:
Milne was divorced from the nonimmigrant student she married prior to 1983. She then married a U.S. citizen but we found, in our above-said unpublished opinion, that she had admitted that it was a marriage of convenience. After another divorce, she married her current husband, a marriage that is uncontested as "bona fide." Her request for legal permanent resident status based on this marriage was denied under INA § 204(c) which precludes approval based on even an admittedly good-faith union if the petitioner had previously contracted an improper marriage.

She tried to do a sham marriage to a US citizen to get her green card. She divorced that guy before marrying her current husband but our immigration policy is that once you’ve tried to exploit our system by marrying a citizen for convenience, you can no longer use marriage to get legal immigration status. Sucks for her because I would assume her current 35 year marriage with a child is legit, but 1980s Donna screwed it up for 2025 Donna.

Maybe she should claim she works for the hospitality industry.

If we got to her after all the people who've snuck in over the last five years, ok, but I'm pretty sure we haven't done that. People who at least came in above board and have kept their nose clean should rate a lower priority than Consuela who works at the chicken plant and got here last year.

Dude nobody believes you’re a moderate when you advocate exclusively for progressive positions. It’s just silly and a very ineffective defense mechanism for you at this point.

Then she would be a seasonal/guest worker.

Amazing to see you “conservatives” side with the lefties in wanting to keep illegals who lied to be here stay here. It’s almost like you just want to shite on Trump.

Morons.

The things justifying removal occurred decades ago.

Just seems dumb. Should have booted her then.

Hate to be that guy, but she doesn't live in Lakeview. She lives in Navarre, which we call Fakeview when people try to appropriate addresses. This is really the biggest travesty here and is certainly worthy of a deportation to Iran.

Not really

quote:

The Fifth Circuit upheld the BIA's interpretation, affirming that the stop-time rule not only halts the accrual of continuous presence but also prevents it from restarting after the commencement of deportation proceedings. The court emphasized that this interpretation was consistent with the legislative history of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) and the Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NACARA), which aimed to eliminate incentives for aliens to prolong their stay in the United States to accrue time for relief from deportation.

She had not been here 7 years since her first deportation matter and the clock never restarts.

So that you can't do what she did and get asylum by just staying.

She tried to game the system, different ways.

Through a sham marriage, through just overstaying, and through an anchor baby.

Pretty much where I’m at.

How about we focus on the people who flooded the border and commit crimes in this country instead of wasting resources on some lady who has been here for 50 years with the governments tacit approval.

How do you know they aren't? Pretty sure that's the majority of those detained.

We deport criminals and the reactions are the same.

Actually, the wider reaction was much worse than this thread.

Also the story about her is full of omitting facts.

Kind of like Maryland Man.

If she met with her immigration appointments as claimed…that’s fed gov’s fault.

I don’t oppose booting anyone here illegally. I just don’t understand why this person would be anywhere near the top of the priority list. There are tens of millions of people that should be higher on that list.
