In 2018 - Andrew Gillum in a debate said something like…I’m not sayingi I think Ron DeSantis is racist but I’m saying that racist people think Ron DeSantis is racist …I forget DeSantis response but Andrew Gillum then went with “ a hit dog hollers”

That may be a distinction without a difference.
But the main reason I start with everyone is a racist is because it takes away an adversarial stage.
The minute you start the conversation with you are a racist and I'm not, we are immediately in an adversarial position.
But if you start the conversation with "we're all racist", we are all on level ground and the odds of a productive exchange are far better.
