What ever happened to the Frito Bandito?

Took a break for lunch today and had a bologna samich and some Fritos. Someone said they loved them some Fritos. I asked if they loved them more than the Frito Bandito? They did not have a clue what I was talking about. Has he really been gone that long?

Speedy does just fine, Mexicans love him and in the last cartoons before the hbo max shorts he ran a pizzaria and one upped Bugs more often than not.

When I was in HS in Jackson, MS there was a Frito plant near the school. On the days they were making Fritos the smell would make me so hungry.
