I know most of this board will use this thread to come at me. But lets try to have a intellectual conversation.

What does this board want us to do at this point in Afghanistan. We can't undo the idiotic decisions that led us here, but what do y'all want us to do to resolve it?

I think there are 3 clear options:

1. Pack up and leave now. Every man for himself.
2. Keep current troop levels, extend the deadline until we get all our people out.
3. Increase troop levels to get everyone out (this would extend deadline as well).

We could also abandon our Afghan allies and leave once we get all Americans out.

What do y'all think we should do? I'm leaning toward No. 3 honestly. Though I would still want that option to be VERY temporary. I want us out of Afghanistan as soon as we can so I would not support a proposal that extends our stay more than another month at most.

Biden should take responsibility and resign

Only option that is acceptable

How about 4... "Not trust the fricking Taliban with the names of every American, green card holder, and Afghani ally who is to be let through the gates."

Oh, wait, too late for that one.

You do what it takes to get Americans out. That's priority #1.

Then I'd go with targeted strikes to obliterate any of the materiel we left behind.

Liquify anyone who stands in the way of that.

This board is not part of the military-trained intelligence community that is supposed to run these sorts of operations, and can’t possibly weigh in correctly here.

This board pays taxes to pay the salaries of those military-trained intelligence community individuals and the leaders in charge to make the correct decisions that don’t result in international disasters.

We can only talk about this in hindsight - none of us know the right move. But it sure as hell isn’t what the Biden administration has done.

Every decision is a shite sandwich at this point.

More troops = escalation, and that is a quagmire we should avoid.

At this point, get US citizens out and accommodate Afghans up until we have all US citizens. Maybe strategic airstrikes to support the next few days. From here, damage control becomes very difficult.

We should have probably thought this through a few months ago when we controlled the area, now shouldn't we have? It is impossible to say what we should do now, because the Biden Administration isn't being truthful with any information on what is happening.

There are no good options and there will be major ramifications for any of them...but option 3 appears to be the best of them to me.

None of us are policy makers.. but:

A ramp UP in troops as we evacuate every American and ally, would have been the smart thing to do.

And don’t get in a hurry about it. Take as much fricking time as we need.

Abandoning Bagram before we are completely out may have been the dumbest strategic move I’ve ever seen. Every American, ally and piece of equipment out, then the last military personnel depart from Bagram.
