Solar could be way better than what they have been doing. The way they are going about it with the solar panels they are using and how they are trying to accomplish solar power is completely wrong. There are some companies coming out with better ways to accomplish it, but it also does not need to be government funded and it will only subsidize energy production.

Bovine flatulence. It’s apparently really impactful.

Our electricity is mostly from Natural gas, with coal and Nuclear providing some power.

I always got laughed at here when I discussed peak oil, but I still think there is not going to be any industrial civilization in 50 years. Nothing is as portable and energy dense as oil.
Nuclear is more energy dense but is still more expensive than fossil fuels.
I'm not worried about peak oil. Even if we start running out of fossil fuels and its supply grows lower the price will increase then nuclear will be more and more cost competitive. Then thorium will be more competitive than traditional uranium. There is a lot of energy in the strong nuclear force between protons and neutrons. It's really amazing to me how much energy there is between protons and neutrons compared to the chemical energy from hydrocarbons.

We need to use whatever is the most cost efficient in the region. Nuclear, hydro, coal, renewables, etc. The plan needs to utilize whatever is available based in a 20 year needs analysis.
.Driving down the cost of electricity would be a major boon for the economy.

It’s not all of the above.
Coal
Natural Gas
Nuclear fission
Nuclear fusion is a pipe dream. It will never happen. Never. Not in my lifetime or the lifetimes of my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and subsequent generations.
Bookmark this and I’ll be proved right in the next couple of centuries, at least.
Wind and solar are not viable without government subsidies which is why electricity prices are outrageously high. You have to back up their capacity with baseload generation which is a complete waste of capital. Capacity factors of wind and solar are low, 20-30%.

Elon says that it will only be solar...
Of course, he's in the business of selling solar.

Nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are capable of meeting our growing energy needs, but they also pose risks.
Considering all risks, nuclear is the safest of all actually.

The endgame is the sun becoming our sole source of power.

SMR's are going to be game changers. I'm sure electric utilities will fight them though.

I want to say nuclear because it makes sense, but the return on investment is not the same as fossil fuels and stupid leftist have created a certain stigma that is associated with nuclear power.

Our soon to be AI lords will use us as a power source. The Matrix was a documentary of the future.

Ocean waves,
There are some small installations going back many, many decades on creeks going into the Bay of Fundy The waves go in, the waves go out, and it's low tech.
The French have a far more sophisticated installation off their west coast in the Atlantic that doesn't get much attention and I don't know why?
