Without compromising the security of the country, and infrastructure needs? I honestly believe it is somewhere between 90-95% and not exaggerating maybe more.

Well let’s see...any alphabet soup agency simply must be cut, that’s probably 95% of the federal government right there.

You could probably cut half the military budget and with the right commanders and generals make it more of a lethal threat

Cut 75% of the welfare money and it’s staffing along with 50% of the dead heads in government, local too , and we could be solvent in 10 years

Very little. The majority of spending is entitlements. You can't just cut that in the budget, it requires a separate change the reduce (or eliminate) the entitlement.

And there is no real world scenario where you cut Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid. That just isn't going to happen. Best you can do it slow the growth.

He's correct. Politicians use the federal agencies like HUD, USDA, DOE, etc. as little pawns in their budget game. The truth is that Military, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid make up 60% of the budget and we won't reign in the deficit and debt until we start cutting into these areas.

Discretionary is actually a pretty small number as compared the total. Where would you start?
