White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked Tuesday to clarify President Joe Biden’s plan to reopen K-8 schools within 100 days of his presidency.

Psaki said Biden’s goal was to have a "majority of schools" – meaning more than 50% – open by day 100 of his presidency, which would be April 30.

"That means some teaching in classrooms. So at least one day a week, hopefully it’s more. And obviously, it is as much as is safe in each school and local district," Psaki said.

The reporter asked Psaki what she meant by "some teaching," to which Psaki replied: "teaching at least one day a week in the majority of schools by day 100."

Are you fricking kidding me, biden?

You ran on reopening schools by day 100

not "50% of schools open one day a week by day 100"

that's an insult to parent.

Like most problems, this is an opportunity in disguise.

Parents have an opportunity to teach and bond with their children free of the agenda of the weak and idealistic.

But will parents seize it?

It would be ridiculous to open a classroom at the end of April for school to be out for summer at the end of May. That month would be wasted teaching classroom routines and then it would be summer time.

The public school system in this country is broken anyway. This will accelerate the descent into abysmal and 'nuke it from space' status.

Meanwhile, parents are moving their kids to private, parochial and homeschooling options in droves. So perhaps it's all a good thing!

I don’t see how students and parents have done this for a year. My school has been open since September

The kids will continue to suffer unfortunately, one day a week is nothing.

Biden did say schools would need proper ventilation "upgrades".

I guess we can look for that to be completed by Monday. 2024.

Welp, Covid is not nearly as lethal on a Tuesday... every virus needs a day of rest.

so, maybe that’s the day they should go to school???

Just trying to think like a fked up lefty.

Not everywhere; my daughter's public school district has been open full time since August 6, with a full sports schedule. Very impressive staff. Prayer before games, National Anthem as well. Curriculum is more traditional.
Some local school boards are thriving.

My daughter’s school has been open full-time since September as well.

Anyone who says it can be done has to ignore hundreds of schools where it’s being done every day.

It would be a lot easier if we stopped the ridiculous and pointless contact tracing at this point.

Well by that metric our son’s school reopened probably around October. We’ve kept him home because the school though. The school has kept the playgrounds closed. The kids are “allowed” to walk in the quad at morning recess but are kept distanced from one another and if they bring a snack they are sequestered to a bench away from kids without snacks. Desks are distanced and have freaking plexiglass enclosures. It isn’t school. It’s a combination between a zoo and a prison.

Coming from the party that said their policies were curbing unemployment, only to find out that they stopped counting you if you quit looking for a job (:lol).....yeah this isnt surprising at all.

Someone in the Twitter comments already found some numbers. We're already at like 62% of schools being some form of in person already so mission accomplished ahead of schedule president Biden!

So thankful to live in suburban Texas where we don’t have to deal with this shite. Hopefully next year they even do away with the virtual. If they don’t lots of teachers will quit. The vast majority want to be strictly in person.

I always thought teachers got a bad rap because I’ve only known them in suburban Texas. Grew up in Katy ISD. Kids attended or attend in Tomball and Cy Fair ISD. Never understood the hate. Then I go to r/teachers and understand why education is an absolute shite show in the country. Thank goodness the majority of teacher at my kids school ain’t like that.

I hope the schools stay closed. no better way for more Americans to have buyers remorse. this affects parents, grandparents (who have to help watch kids) young adults, almost everyone at least indirectly
