I finished a multi-episode of a WW2 Doc the other day and came away thinking Ike is one of the greatest Americans who ever lived. Screw that reporter.

Sure thing buddy, here's the source. Yes it is from a left-leaning "non-profit," which is why I didn't quote it because it reeks of bias, but the data is the data. Trump's family abuses the travel with secret service privilege, full stop.
No doubt since the emergence of deranged violent progressives since November 2016 this administration needs protection.

Flying a helicopter, or any type of aircraft is a quickly perishable skill. If the Marine pilots were not regularly flying Trump they would be flying regular training flights with a empty helicopter to maintain currency.

I would think the cost is cheaper than when Obama was in office because of the price of Oil.

Any chance that this could be because his children are adults with lives of their own rather than children and also hold positions in the administration?
Of course there is a chance of that. In fact, here is neat chart of the breakdown by group. As you can see, Trump's travel decreased slightly from Obama, however Trump's family traveled nearly 10x the rate of Obama's.
Regarding the "hold positions in the administration" line, that may be true of Jared and Ivanka, but dumb & dumber don't travel on US business.
From the source article, which I explicitly hadn't quoted since it is fairly biased with its assertions, but bias or not this information is 100% verifiable and true:
quote:
In February 2017, Eric and Don Jr. flew to Dubai to open a Trump-branded golf club, which cost the Secret Service more than $200,000. The same month, Eric flew to the Dominican Republic to potentially relaunch a failed Trump-branded resort project, which cost $20,000. Eric Trump has visited Uruguay twice for Trump Organization business, costing taxpayers $97,830 in 2017,and $80,786 in 2019.
Does it particularly matter how much they travel? I don't know, that is up to you. I personally don't really care about how much they travel - that's a perk of being president - but what bothers me is they are using taxpayer money to enrich themselves. The Secret Service travel budget nearly doubled, $60m to $140m, to accommodate the travel extra travel which is mostly to Trump-owned properties.

Eisenhower saved the free frickin world. If he wants to take a helicopter to play golf the country owes him that plus another helicopter following just for the hell of it.

Ike is the reason I play golf. Before him it was the rich man's game. He made it popular with working folks. My dad developed heart issues in his 50s. His doctor suggested that he do something besides work (he was a roughneck in the oil fields). Dad was an Ike fan and said he'd like to take up golf. He brought me with him.

The most hilarious (and appaling) thing about his hypocrisy is that the taxpayers are paying money directly to Trump's businesses when he golfs or stays at lago.
Real appalling stuff there, sparky.

I ain't claimed once to be a "Trump supporter", where are you coming from with this?
I say nice things about him when he does good things, that doesn't make me a Trump supporter...

Very good point.
Liberal dipshits can blame themselves for that too.
