some of you missed my point completely
some people prefer to speak in a mother tongue, does not have anything to do with their citizenship
it is routine for me to see little children speak to their mother in english and their grandmother in spanish
just speaking a second language does not mean anything at all
I live in houston and it is routine to have service people speak to me in english and then each other in spanish. none of them are assumed to be illegals
when my grandmother was little, they used to beat the cajun kids for speaking in french at school. now they cant promote kids learning cajun french enough in school

Based off your suspicion because they are bilingual.
Thanks for your insight, Sherlock. Can’t wait to find out what outrages you tomorrow.

Same with my grandpa, but with Spanish (from the Canary Islands). He learned how to speak English at school.
When I got to high school and started taking Spanish, he couldn’t even remember how to speak it anymore.

Illegals here are big into wrestling. A bunch up from Yakima when we watched our granddaughter wrestle in Spokane. In the lunch room area of the arena they had these long tables set up to eat at.
One table was all illegals. At the end of each table were garbage cans. Instead of throwing their garbage in the cans they threw it under the table. They were also changing diapers right on the eating table.

I realized that illegals are so comfortable here, they dont even have to bother behaving in a civilized manner. I suspect 90%+ of the parents from the other team are here illegally, as none seemed to speak ANY English. A coach got tossed from the game and so did a player. The whole team was dirty (like violent tackles, which is pretty unusual at the 12 yo age group).
I’ll take things that didn’t happen for 10,000, Alex

I am baffled WHY a grown adult coming to this country would not learn English in 20 years?????????????? I lived in a foreign country and learned their language. It wasn't some easy language either. I wanted to fit in while I worked there.
An adult who moves here is one thing - far worse are first and second generation Americans who still can't speak English.

I agree with you about the 1st and 2nd generation. But when you move to a country you have to learn some basics about their language and their culture. If you are 50 yrs old, you can still learn.

They are really good at soccer. The only state championship my son ever won in Alabama was when he was on a team with a bunch of Mexicans. (They changed the way they do the ages, the cut off date when he was like 16 and really fricked him so he was in a leftover group U-17 team) He was a very good goalie and talked some kids into playing they were incredible. It was like bad news bears shite but immigration style. Most of them were legal but about 4-5 were definitely not. Most were brought over by the local churches.
I remember one African kid was telling the kids about his family running through the jungle in Africa from gorillas. (His dad was a top engineer) and all the kids thought he meant the “monkey” kind. We he said they were shooting at them, they were like Gorillas can shot guns? (Lol)
Most all of them spoke fluent English except for those 4-5 guys who did understand you but generally spoke in Spanish.
They were all very poor, I paid for most everything for them, took them to eat etc. They were always appreciative. They were all very good hard working kids. They even got on my son to stay on their arse and not let anyone frick around. He wasn’t sure how to talk to them. He would yell something and one of them were translate it very aggressively into Spanish and then add something like “quit being a lazy mfer etc in Spanish, etc” At end of season no one could score on us
Now those teams from Houston…..

Was it a blue and yellow team? If so I think we played them last year. Looked like they were a few years older than the players on our team were too.

Man. If yall think the Hispanics are bad in soccer, or black people are bad in football, yall should see all the white people at the many travel ball tournaments every weekend.

I know parents frequently suck at these games. But those parents, who dont even belong here, are comfortable to be screaming at the ref and cheering for their coach and player as they were kicked off. They were cheering for awful fouls.

Yep. We have a lot of Filipinos, they are legal and I am and they talk to each other in their native language often. I've never thought much about it, but it really pisses off some people.

Americans have an issue with this because we're so huge.
Unlike Europe where if you're sitting in some bar in any decent sized city, you're probably going to hear 4-5 languages around you.
I know some people that get pissed about the language thing and I always tell them they're making a MUCH bigger deal out of it than it is. Is it possible that occasionally people use language to get away with talking shite about you? I suppose. But honestly, so the frick what?

There's a Hispanic 6-year old that is kicking everyone's arse in my son's league. His dad is the coach and a really nice guy. Every Saturday that kid has a huge family cheering section, cheering for his teammates in English and talking to each other in Spanish.
Wish they'd throw some bottles or something because this kid is too damn good
