I am a lifelong Free Will Baptist. There is a national conference, but it doesn’t hold much authority. Each church operates independently. It is not nearly as conservative as when I was young, but is still very conservative compared to other Baptists. Independent Baptist Churches are a mixed bag. Some are wonderful but others are run by dictators or “royal families”.

I'm working in Griffin this week and Savannah next week. Are you near either? I'd love to worship with some reformed brothers this Sunday.
I actually moved to the Rockies about 15 years ago, so unfortunately I won’t be nearby to worship with you this coming Lord’s Day, but I would be honored to do so if the opportunity ever presents itself this side of Heaven

Understood. I have Faith, but I long ago gave up trying to figure out every interpretation of scripture. I just try to live out my faith the best I can by doing good for others. I have doctrinal beliefs, but I know everybody doesn’t have the exact same ones.

We need more Christians focused on reforming culture by reforming the Church and not changing the Church to look more like the culture (like the “woke” church movement).

The key, to me

What's also so disturbing to me is that I think it's obvious people want an alternative to the culture. It's harder work, but it's more lasting and more genuine. I feel like these non-woke churches who are nonetheless tailoring themselves to the culture are knowingly taking the road to short term success/long term failure.

Don't ever say "welp" unless you spell it whelp and in reference to puppies being born.

Ed Litton - Not the best option but likely the lesser of the evils.
Interesting thing to say about someone who is presumably depended on to interpret the Word of God.

You say it more gracefully but I think I capture it better here:

If the church becomes no more than a community social club, there are a lot more entertaining social clubs to join.

Prediction: within 3-5 years, the SBC will be ordaining women,

what rationale do you offer why women cannot preach or serve the members in their whatever personal ministry?

Do you believe in the God of the Bible? Do you accept the Bible as God's inerrant word?

If it breaks up the ridiculous nepotism and pageantry of some churches, I'm for it.

1 Timothy 2:11
Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness.
12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet

Women can serve in many roles in the Church, yet they are not to be in positions of authority over men.

This would likely be a deal killer for many who adhere to Calvinism, but I love the country Freewill Baptist Church my parents attend. Solid hardworking bi-vocational pastor, lot of mature members who got saved through that church, and the Word and Word only is preached there. It’s a step back in time in many ways and refreshing when I visit. If I still lived there, I’d probably go there just because of the fruit that exists.

Two questions:

2 - Saves us from what?

Mohler and Stone have a lot more in common than Mohler and Litton.

BTW: do you play instruments in Church? Church of Christ says your actively living in sin if you do.

Church of Christ also believes in baptismal regeneration. They are wrong on both points.

The black churches latched on to this idea years ago, when they figured out that if the wife also preaches, it’s less work and double the salary. It’s a scam

That may be, but that's not what happened at Saddleback. The 3 women who were ordained are not the wives of pastors. They ARE pastors in the church. Their spouses, if they have spouses, are not
