Real estate investor Stephen Rosenberg once had an open checkbook for Democrats running for higher office, including Hillary Clinton.

That changed after Donald Trump was elected president. Since then, Rosenberg has created a shell company that so far is dedicated to only supporting Trump for his 2020 reelection campaign.

quote:

Rosenberg is one of several business executives who wanted nothing to do with Trump in 2016 but have since decided to help him seek reelection.

quote:

The $360,600 donation to Trump Victory came in May and, on another filing with Rosenberg’s name as the contributor, a memo cites SR 2018, describing the company’s contribution as “permissible funds.” The shell company has also given directly to Trump’s campaign with two separate max checks of $2,800, with one going toward the primary stage of the election cycle and the other for the later general election.

We badly need campaign finance reform. All Americans should have a $100 allotment yearly that can go to political campaigns.

I'm on board. We either pay one price for it up front or pay for it here and there based on the whims of lobbyists.

How would it not? No more super-PACs, no more mega-corporations funneling millions into campaigns...

So long as there is money to be made in controlling a politician's agenda, there will be money spent on ensuring there is control of them. I don't give a shite what kind of well-intentioned reform you have. Corruption is only limited by limiting the power bought.

You can already donate 3 dollars for the presidential election fund through your taxes, 6 dollars if married.

But for candidates to qualify for it, you have to agree to certain restrictions, and the last major one to tap it was McCain, but he had to stop because it limits your spending.

Hear hear, once the ICC ruling and others allowed the fedgov to go 1000% over what they were ever intended to do is when the real corruption started. Social Security, healthcare etc. etc.

He went from a hero when he was backing that horrible human (Hillary) to a zero when he backs the best modern day USA president? Makes sense.

He's neither a hero, nor a zero. He's a power hungry rich dude who wants to buy influence from the most influential politician, in the most powerful country in the world. He bet on the wrong horse last time, now he's switching horses. You see blue and red, he sees green=power and influence.
