I bet those SETM majors out in Silicon Valley are voting a lot more conservative than the rest of the population there.

Got a STEM degree. Would say 50 percent of professors were liberal, 25% didn’t voice political opinion, 25% were conservative. 85% were foreign.

Yep. I agree. Unfortunately we have to remind them that our hard work, taxes, and donations make the universities what they are.

Defunding universities is almost as dumb as defunding the police. Why is the solution to every problem the most extreme option? Stop the hyperbole. We need to reform higher education. The advanced research of these institutions are part of what makes this nation the best.

Here’s how we reform universities to better serve this nation:

1. Make colleges liable for student debt. If you make it the college’s financial interest for each graduate to get a job that compensates well enough to pay off their debts that will dramatically reduce pointless degrees which happen to be filled with SJW propaganda classes.

2. Create the means for students to anonymously file complaints about professors regarding conduct which includes political bias. Have these complaints reviewed and investigated by a bipartisan review board which will have the ability to reduce or cut federal funding to universities.

3. Have the newly created university review board publicize their findings about each university to inform parents and prospective students about misconduct and political biases on a college by college basis or even specific to each professor.

4. Force universities that receive federal contracts and funding to have true freedom of speech on campus that allows both liberal and conservative groups and speakers.

I'll debate this and say that many can benefit from more education, as well as, society would benefit from it.

The problem is having kids go straight to a university for a bullshite program. Make an AA/AS cheaper by utilizing more online learning. There are so many teachers/professors that are paid dumb amounts for what they do. Most tenured teachers/professors are too comfortable and raise the cost of education with their departments decisions. Along with student and facility wish lists, education gets more $$$.

This could be applied to the workforce. How many insanely big buildings are there when ppl could work at home and save the earth in that way? So much waste and unnecessary shite.

Really, that's where the hundreds of millions of student loan money pouring into the Universities is going, to the teachers and professors?

Most professors in non-STEM fields would earn more as public school teachers.

Go look up the starting salary of a PhD-holding, Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at any state university.
Then look up what a public school teacher earns.

You’ll be shocked.

Sure is. Faculty cost, Department cost, Facilities cost, student housing cost, campus cost, etc. Its a money ecosystem that keeps getting larger because of many factors, decisions made by teachers, professors, dept heads, chancellors, board members, and university presidents. All "teachers".

LSU is a heavily STEM and Business focused University. It will remain relatively conservative as long as it continues to pump out kids that know how to make stuff, apply medicine and run business.

Umm, it’s more likely LSU is conservative because it’s in a conservative state. Stanford, Penn, Cal Tech, MIT, etc are clearly a cut above LSU when it comes to STEM and business....but you don’t see their student body being filled with raging conservatives.

If you define the university president, board members, chancellors, the 'dean of parking' as a "teacher"and include the decisions they are making to rake the students over the economic coals and extract their quarter million dollar salaries, then you have a point.

It's a noble gesture to appoint your kids ditch diggers. Someone has to do it.

This the line poor people repeat and think defunding universities is a good idea.

Ask yourself if rich people send their kids to college?

If someone is wealthy, wouldn't they know the value of something?

They know universities bring wealth to those who attend it.

Reform. Make academic standards higher and be more selective, there are way too many kids who do not belong on a campus. Cut the number of universities in half, there are way too many and higher education is watered down. Cut out useless degree programs that offer no benefit to society. Bring back trade and technical schools to build a competent workforce. Higher education is a complete shite show right now and watching the administrators allow the mentally disturbed to take control is the reason we are in this mess.

I agree with you though kids still need an after high school education. But take a former red and possible light pink to light plum colored state like Texas. There couldn't be more leftist colleges than some in this state. And for years Republican public officials let it happen without even questioning what was going on. So I don't even know what we could do about it now.

Wrong. Credentialed halfwits like you support continued administrative bloat and inefficiency in our education system at all levels.

How many millionaires file for bankruptcy? How many doctors live paycheck to paycheck? Maybe if you weren't so poorly educated yourself you'd make better arguments. Seems the only thing you are demonstrating here, is the OP's point.
