I agree. I'm not sure whether to buy in on some PM ETF or buy more physical PMs.....I'm unsure whether the price of gold, silver and other precious metals could fall a bit more....I probably shouldn't try to time the bottom and just pull the damn trigger now.

We had thousands of domestic terrorist bombings during the 1960's and early 70's and the country, as divided as is was, did not break out into a civil war.
What we have now is essentially fans of two sports teams yelling at each other over social media. Now events such as the 2017 Congressional baseball game shooting and some of what appear to be politically motivated mass shooting are awful, but life for most Americans is pretty good right now. As long most people have food on the table, roof over their heads and Netflix to watch, they are not going to start shooting their neighbors. Just shooting their mouths off on the Poliboard.

The problems come to the forefront when one side starts bringing unrest everywhere.
The Dems tried it with Black Lives Matter, Occupy Wall Street, and others which are generally beaten back as of now.
Eventually something is going to cause a flare up and it is a question as to what will happen because of it.
In general, people won’t shoot their neighbors. But if one side decides that the other are a bunch of “little Eichmanns” who don’t deserve to live, shite gets real pretty quick.

Like I pointed out the the little bit of melting from the far left (BLM Occupy movement) and these right wing racist groups is nothing...absolute nothing compared compared to the riots, lynchings, assassinations, daily bombings etc..we had 40 years ago.. Remember the Ferguson "riots". The media made them out to be this huge civil unrest and it was really just maybe 100 people vandalize a block...CNN made it sound like Watts... We have a looong way to go before things get that bad again.

It's pretty wild how people let Facebook, and news channels dictate their thoughts. This thread, in this very thread people think a Civil War is on the horizon. In other threads, people think Trump has saved America from a total collapse.
And the reality is, as you stated, we are in such better shape right now, today than we were in the 60s/70s, it's not even close to compare. But people don't realize that. It's hard for me to comprehend how far off people are on this topic.
