Do you think HCQ is contributing to mortality? Honest question.

The evidence strong suggests so.

Cool story

The drug is currently FDA approved. Doctors prescribe it. The end.

Also, you'll ignore it, but that "analysis" didn't control for initial condition.

The people in the analysis ON the drug STARTED OFF in worse shape than the people in the analysis that were NOT on the drug.

ALSO. Buried in the story are THESE quotes.

quote:

The new study’s findings cannot necessarily be extrapolated to people with mild illness at home or those, like Trump, who are taking the antimalarials as a prophylactic.

quote:

A large study of health-care workers that examines the use of hydroxychloroquine as a preventive measure against covid-19 is in the works, but no results have been released.

quote:

Evidence of any benefit, such as viral clearance or improved symptoms, has been almost nonexistent.
This one is amusing because there's another way to write the phrase "almost non-existent". Do you need me to hold your hand?

quote:

Earlier this month, some proponents of hydroxychloroquine seized on a study out of New York University’s Langone Health center that threw zinc into the mix with hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, and showed the treated group had a higher rate of survival. But researchers emphasized that it only showed that the combination had some promise

So, you CAN take it in COMBINATION?

OK. My boot is now so far up your arse, I'm somewhat concerned.

If you or your liberal friends contract CV please follow WaPo’s medical advice and do not take the HCQ treatment.

I'd argue the crusade FOR HCQ even after all of this evidence has gone from weird to dangerous to now deranged.

45 percent? What does that do? Raise your death rate to like .064%

People treated with hydroxychloroquine, or the closely related drug chloroquine, were also more likely to develop a type of irregular heart rhythm, or arrhythmia, that can lead to sudden cardiac death, it concluded.
I do wonder if the WaPo author actually went to the trouble of reading the Lancet Review "study".
quote:

We also did not establish if the association of increased risk of in-hospital death with use of the drug regimens is linked directly to their cardiovascular risk, nor did we conduct a drug dose-response analysis of the observed risks.

Short read, but Lupus itself can cause arrhythmia.
So which is it? Chicken or the egg?

Hydroxychloroquine is prescribed over 40K times a day.

And that’s just in the VA system
It’s used millions of times throughout the world
