Was the latest meat outrage legit or just another thing to complain about?

The last 10 years the biggest hip thing has been overpriced Wagyu & Kobe beef and now we have a problem all of a sudden with non domestic meat?
Trump put tariffs to protect the US Cattle Industry and that was bad, he removed that and people still complained. Again damn if you do damned if you don’t.

Never had it, I’d rather eat meat than fat plus the pricing seems ridiculous and probably inflated the rest of the meat market.

It’s amazing that Trump said tariffs are borne by the exporters and not the consumers. And now he is removing the tariffs to lower the costs for the consumers. So which is it?

I slept right through all of it. It's very hard to take people seriuosly complaining about food money when they have $1000 phones and $70,000 cars. What they're really saying is: "I'm angry at Trump because CNN told me to be, also I probably don't have any money left to pay for discretionary spending on beef after all of these luxuries that I'm probably financing to the cost of thousands of dollars per month".

Killen's Steakhouse used to have (may still) a steak sampler that had Wagyu and USDA prime plus one other one (not Kobe)
I tried it. Prime is IMO way better than Wagyu.

It is both.
Tariff is paid at the dock. By the exporter/importer.
If the beef goes bad (doesn't sell because it is overpriced), the exporter/importer are eating the cost of the tariff.
Costs are passed on to the consumer (taxes are a cost).
If the beef is sold in the US, the tax on that beef is paid by the consumer.
The seller of a good is not guaranteed a profit. That is free market economy. Tariffs create a huge layer of risk on the exporter/importer.

The problem I have is the "source country" of the beef which is proposed to be imported. U.S. federal agencies need to take the inspection process of imported food products much more serious. The factories and fields of the product & materials being exported should be actively inspected by FDA & Department of Agriculture inspectors. Likewise, they should be reinspected as a 'final product' upon arrival at our borders.

Beef industry is largely controlled by package plants and large producers--which are owned by foreign investors.
Start only helping the lower end farmers(5k heards) and co-ops. Give tax breaks and incentives only to these.

One kf the largest factors was droughts that caused farmers to have to liquidate their breeding stock. Basic supply and demand kicks in and prices go up. The Argentina beef is an attempt to give the market a shot in the arm while ranchers catch up. Some people are so ignorant of economics and biology that they show their arse on this. First, you have yo raise your breeding stock first. Second, with prices this high someone ranchers surely would take advantage no?

It takes time,cows don’t reproduce like pigs.A friend has a moderate size herd(165 or so).A lot of years he doesn’t make a profit.Few years ago drought hurt him, he had to sell off some cows because he couldn’t make enough hay to feed them the winter coming up.All his natural water sources dried up so he had to pump well water for his remaining cows.His electrical
bill to pump all that water was $12-$1500/month for several months.That was on top of extra feed he had to buy.This year he sold off some because prices were so high,didn’t want to but he couldn’t afford not to

The point of tariffs on beef is because foreign beef undercuts US beef. Making foreign beef more expensive means US ranchers can sell more and increase the herds making your US beef cheaper.
To combat the the removal of tariffs Trump is easing regulations for processing.
But you probably hate America.
