Was Obama getting elected president the best thing that ever happened to the US?

Without Obama someone like Trump would never have stood a chance. People had to finally get sick of the progressive bullshite by having it shoved up their a-hole.

Consider the last 2 alternate candidates trotted out were MCCAIN and ROMNEY.

We'd be more hopeless as a nation than ever had either of those won.

Obama would have won a 3rd term if he could have run.

In a roundabout way, yes. If Clinton would have gone first then Obama would have been next. 16 years of consecutive Democrat rule would have been very bad for this country.

Eight years was bad enough for me.

dims and the "MSM" went a little too far a little too fast. If they had waited with some of this social engineering and social justice BS Hildabeast might have sneaked in as Pres.
If she had we'd never have recovered in my lifetime, if ever.

Lots more people are awake now concerning the dims and their true agenda, the "MSM", globalism, etc.

God bless MAGA.

While I will never go so far as to say that the election of Obama was a good thing, the election of McCain or Romney would have been disastrous. Many of the same progressive policies would have been advanced and we would have been left holding the bag for their failures.

That having been said, we must remain awake. Stumbles like what happened in Alabama can't happen during the midterms if the MAGA agenda is to succeed.

Trump is saving this country. Or at the very least stalling it's slow death spiral into Western European socialist ideology.

What Trump voters like me realized is that there was absolutely ZERO difference in Hillary and Jeb Bush winning. Opposite sides of the same coin.

No, he fractured the country (probably irrepairably) and caused the pendulum to swing farther than ever. Republicans who arent anticipating the leftward swing of the pendulum are just as naive as democrats who thought the republican party was essentially over during the early Obama years. It’s going to swing back harder than ever because of Trump and how his childish supporters are acting.

And as a small-government, libertarian/conservative, I’ll be over in the corner, more unrepresented than ever before.

An argument could be made (successfully IMO) that they're not on opposite sides anymore

While I down voted you. You are probably correct. The power of incumbency is ridiculous in this country.

In hindsight it was certainly better than having McCain or Romney.

I remember when asked about Mideast policy, McCain stated (something like), "We need to make a 100-year commitment to Iraq." My jaw dropped to the floor.
