I'm thinking about those poor victims trying to help themselves by lying low on the ground but judging from the angle of fire, lying on the ground didn't help save them from that plunging fire from the 32nd floor.

Am I right about this?

Thanks! You have no 81mm mortars in your Wpns Plt, right?

No only 60's with the line companies. The 81mm Plt (8 tubes) is in the Wpns Co. I enjoyed being their Plt Cmdr too.

??? SAW has a much higher rate of fire than whatever's in the videos I watched

No one shoots a SAW in long burst bc you have to re aim.

His burst are very similar to someone readjusting.

So the Wpns Plt leader is left with a few 60mm mortars to command? Ouch. But I understand the necessity. I'm fairly sure that your solution was implemented as far back as the beginning of WW2 for the US forces. I guess that the Wpns Plt leader must accept that it will happen.
In the USMC the Wpns Plt Comdr is the senior Platoon commander in the company.

Wonder if he modified one, although I've heard it's almost impossible to do

It's pretty significant modification - the M249 fires from the open bolt - the civilian model is far more conventional, using a closed-bolt design.

I'm not sure the "real" parts would even work - you'd have to reverse engineer it to make it operate like an assault or battle rifle - I doubt this was a SAW, BTW. If it was, it was a real one illegally imported, not a civilian one modified - again IMHO.

You can mount anything these days - Lego for adults.

Thanks for the info.

I know that most folks think that the automatic weapons are the best but I think that I prefer some MORTARS.

A couple/ notes questions?

1. How big of a deal would Paddock having a military SAW illegally be? No idea, actually asking? Could military weapons be part of the reason info is slow to being released?

2.) All the spent brass on the ground looks to be the same to me, all 5.56 most likely. In other words, I don't see any AK brass

3.) How many F bombs did the first guy in the SWAT team with the shield say before breaching the door? That guy had to be hating his life.

I want to know if there was any chance of it being a belt fed RPK. The round makes sense, the rate of fire matches, and there was an AK type weapon found.

It might have made things worse giving the shooter a larger cross section to hit as well as a stationary target.

It would be a very big deal if a US Govt issue SAW got into a psycho killer's possession.

In light of the crime scene photos released today, looks like no SAW was involved.

It was reported he had the bump mod and crank mods for the triggers. This is supposedly how he managed the high rates of fire.
