Everyone knows you guys have better uniforms. No hate there. The current Army shite looks like something a French postal clerk would wear.

I heard on the news that the range was 800 feet or about 243 meters. Does anybody know whether that is accurate?

That's worse than using a spinning reel upside down.

I would assume it was greater than 250'. To me it seems more like 500m which a 5.56 with plunging fire could do easily.

I thought there were multiple configurations of the 240 adopted by various branches.

yeah there are multiple configurations, and the Marines had one they used exclusively if I recall correctly. but the 240B is the army's staple Medium weight machine gun. 240N is the USMC variant I think (don't quote me) I think it has a wooden grip or something (don't quote me).

Army infantry uses 240B and 240L. SOF guys had the 240 Special Purpose WEapon and the MK 48 SAW variant. Also used a butterfly trigger handle on vehicles, I can't remember the nomenclature though. I hated that POS. There is also a cable charged version that the tanker types use.

lol, I was going to do that earlier today anyway. The perspctive was so skewed in the cell phone videos, it looked really far away. 250m is fish in a barrel. damn.

I just measured it on google earth. 300 is probably pretty damn close.

Plus 32 floors up with folks shoulder to shoulder. It's a wonder 100s weren't killed.

Was going to say it was definitely greater than 250'. That is less than a football field

I know man. looked like very sparse cover too. The confusion, not knowing the source of the gunfire. What a nightmare. I'm sure some people were trampled as they tried to escape.

The saving grace was that it was plunging fire. Could you imagine what grazing fire, with a tripod mounted M240, would have done?
