Reconnaissance Marines go to Ranger school.

We even have a cadence about it.

The wife disagreed with me the other night when this was playing that Full Metal Jacket is a cinematic masterpiece.

I'm questioning our marriage now. So is my father-in-law. And he's on my side.

Yes, he talks about serving in Vietnam times and being scared and being a point man and being in the infantry and having people spit on him when he "came home". Gosh, I wonder how anyone could've made that mistake that he was in Vietnam.

Mixed marriages can be quite trying. Y'all really should have had the FMJ conversation before considering a life together

Yeah another former Marine in this thread already told us that. A lot of the SoF forces crossover and train with different branches. SEALs go to Army jump school (and HALO). Some FR Marines go to Ranger school. Not sure if the Army SF does anything with the Navy or not (maybe combat diving?).

ETA: Honestly with the mission status of all the SoF people being almost the same, it really makes no sense to have them spread through the various branches anymore. I say create one training regiment for all of them. Make them their own separate branch. No more Army SF or Navy SEALS. Come up with a new name and put them all together.

You want the real reason why Nathan Phillips lied about his Vietnam service? Liberals play the victim card as a primary means of currency. Being an Indian gets him into a lot of places and access to the inner circle of liberal power brokers. But being a Vietnam vet and fighting for a country that discriminates against him completely legitimizes him into the upper reaches of victimhood.

Leftists are often accused of not being patriotic. Phillips was able to present himself as a far last victim of white oppression but someone who still put his life on the line for his country. Hes a Marxist's wet dream.

I'm still waiting for someone to point out where he said he served in Vietnam.

Sorry. Ex-Marine? I dunno the correct terminology but I know one or the other is considered offensive.
