That unfairness, if left unaddressed, will eventually destroy the legitimacy of the institution itself.
Yeah, because politicizing the Supreme Court which, by design, is intended to be non-political will definitely help help the Court's legitimacy.
Have these people never studied countries who have a politicized judiciary?
How in the holy frick is this guy teaching political science?

It might sound drastic, part of the orgy of norm-violation that has defined the past decade. But it would help reverse something even more threatening to democracy: indefinite minority rule.
Since 1992, Democrats have won 30 million more votes for the U.S. Senate than Republicans. They have won the popular vote in six of seven presidential elections. But the electoral college, the small-state bias of the Senate and the GOP’s potential dominance of the court have thwarted the will of the people.
I love how he declares that our democracy is threatened and then goes on to describe precisely how we aren't a democracy.

Republicans won the legal popular vote in those elections.

Donald Trump will soon have two in less than half a term. That unfairness,

Can someone explain why some form of minority in power is suddenly a bad thing?
Can someone explain why “indefinite minority rule” is inherently damaging to democracy compared to the concept of the “tyranny of the majority” which is what left the founding fathers sleepless at night trying to produce an adaptable system which avoided the power of merely owning 51% of people?

Also, can someone explain why if one large state really likes their candidate, it should dilute the power of less populous states.
And this fricker is a political science professor?
I wonder what his response would be as to why the Senate was structured the way it was when the constitution was framed.

it's not bad...it's unfair, especially with lifetime appointments b/c sometimes DEM Presidents don't get to nominate candidates

This week: We need term limits for scotus

The purpose of the senate is completely lost on this guy.

Before we go there, let’s take a closer look at Justice Scalia’s death and that whole no autopsy thing.
That may not exactly be a road certain Dems are interested in going down, you know?

To put it concisely, f*ck that.

David Faris is associated professor of political science at Roosevelt University
About Me
I’m currently program director of Political Science at Roosevelt University. I earned my PhD in Political Science at the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. I’m at work on final edits for a book on American political reform and progressive power called It’s Time To Fight Dirty: How Progressives Can Build a Lasting Majority in American Politics. It will be published in Spring 2018 by Melville House Press just in time for the midterm elections. My first book, Dissent and Revolution in a Digital Age: Social Media, Blogging and Activism in Egypt (I.B. Tauris, 2013)– focused on the use of digital media by Egyptian opposition movements. With Babak Rahimi, I am the co-editor of and contributor to Social Media and Iran: Politics and Society After 2009 (SUNY Press). My academic work has been published in the International Journal of Middle East Studies, Middle East Policy, Arab Media & Society and Politique Etrangèr,
In addition to my academic work, I am a contributing writer at The Week, an international journal of opinion, as well as the Middle East-focused blog Informed Comment. I’ve published op-eds with USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, NPR.org, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Christian Science Monitor, the Daily News Egypt, the Philadelphia Citypaper, the Philadelphia Inquirer and more.
Outside of the classroom, you can probably catch me at a baseball game, writing op-eds, playing Texas Hold ‘Em, making stews, seeing a concert, toying with my fantasy baseball teams, riding my bike around town, galavanting around the world, or spending my spare money on food with my amazing wife, partner and inspiration, Sheerine Alemzadeh.
YUP I can see him writing this article all right. He hits all of the usual checkboxes.

Open Border/Universal Health Care/Guaranteed Income Equality>Dem Party Platform. It's a joke to even assume that the Dems would EVER regain power on such insanity....and even if they did, there would be a frickin' civil war to throw the Communists out of any (*Democratic*) faux power that they assumed.
Good Lord! "Behold, I will send them GREAT DELUSION, that they will believe a lie". Seein is believin'!

Thankfully they're showing their true colors. Maybe the GOP should court pack while they have power?
