It would be hilarious if trump secretly made a deal with Mexico to send aid money in return they pay for the wall

Hilarious if his followers thought that was Mexico paying for the Wall, you mean.

Aid money comes from our taxes. So, we'd be paying for the Wall. But, yeah, his shell game that he's using on his supporters is hilarious - sad, though. Sad that anyone would fall for the con.

There won't be a Wall. Mexico won't pay for it. Neither will American taxpayers. It won't ever happen. Nothing is happening on this.

Do you want to gut entitlements or punish businesses for hiring illegals? Or do you not see the problem with importing millions of unskilled third world peoples?

That's rubbish. He never had a ghost of a chance to be reelected. The Republicans will run a never Trumper in 2020 and lose quietly to Beto, Biden, or whoever carries the Democratic mantel.

What this move will accomplish is to drop the president's approval level to ~30% or lower, making impeachment a real viable political option when the Democrats take charge in January.

I’ll need to see total foreign aid given to Mexico in previous years compared to total aid given to Mexico this year. What you posted in OP doesn’t actually mean anything.

Jesus man. You’re like the JJDoc or Parmenides of the left. Is there a progressive Q thread on Reddit or something I’m missing out on?

Non citizens should not be eligible to receive any entitlements.

Companies that knowingly hire illegals should be charged with felonies that include mandatory prison time and ruinous financial penalties.

The U.S. has given Mexico $234.79 million in assistance over the past five years, or roughly $46.9 million per year. The U.S. plans to provide Mexico with $134.6 million in the current budget year, none of which has yet been spent. The biggest chunk of the planned 2017 spending, $78.9 million, is devoted to democracy, human rights and governance programs, including supporting civic institutions. An additional $43.8 million is devoted to promoting peace and security, including counter-narcotics operations and combating transnational crime. The smallest piece of the 2017 package, $11.9 million, is for environmental and climate change programs.

Eliminate entitlements
Punish businesses who hire them

This is almost the most rational thing you have said.

But this news out of Washington is a head scratcher. Is Trump using american funds to create entitlements in Mexico? Very strange.

Of course better working conditions in the nations south of the border is one of the factors to stabilize the migrant labor situation. But the big strategy to do this was to allow Mexico to build its own base of legitimate business and agriculture and trade their way out of poverty through their own enterprise. I'm curious to know what this cash is for, exactly.

Democrats are going to attach so many things to that infrastructure bill because they know Trump needs a win really badly and he has lost all leverage,

Either Trump gives away the farm in a Democrat infrastructure bill or he loses his aura of the master deal maker. Democrats will just wait for the next Democrat President if they don’t get the bill they want, they have no incentive to give Trump an easy win.

That aura has done been gone. His deal making abilities are confined to putting real estate developments together. He hasn't yet pulled off a real political deal.

We need infrastructure development and upkeep in a big way. Instead of wasting the money on a budget-busting corporate tax cut, he should have done the infrastructure deal. The time was right. Now, with the budget in shambles, we really can't afford it.

We had a massive infrastructure deal under Obama and now, here we are, saying we need another. Member "shovel ready jobs" that were massive wastes of billions of dollars?

Who gives a shite. $20 billion total amortized over 30 years is $670 million a year. Pennies compared to the amount of money we waste. The amount of entitlements it would save from stopping any significant amount of illegal immigration would more than pay for that $670 million
