19 states and jurisdictions have such laws on the books: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia all have prohibitions against age discrimination by “public accommodations” or publicly accessible retail establishments.

Its a matter of time before an attorney is asked to defend a right.

Even there, I bet there are exceptions because I'm fairly confident that people under 25 can't rent cars in Connecticut.

There is probably a specific state statute for that.

Would you argue that senior citizen discounts are also a civil rights issue?

If it's in place as a "Senior Citizen Discount" wouldn't it be discrimination to sell it to any one else?

If these people really wanted to make a dent in gun crime they’d stop selling to black people.

???? Are you trying to imply that black on black inner city gang/drug/whatever shootings or armed robberies has ANYTHING to do with the legal sale of firearms to citizens who actually purchase their firearms at reputable retailers and pass background checks????

You do realize that most of the filthy thugs that commit these kinds of shootings are NOT ABLE to purchase a firearm LEGALLY. They DON'T get them from the store!

Can you please elaborate on the assertion that you made that I quoted by you above?

I will also add to this that IDIOTS who leave weapons in their cars overnight or unattended or who don't otherwise properly secure them are in my opinion NOT responsible gun owners.

No.... my position is that state laws set the age limits. If an 18 year old walks into wal mart to buy a gun in a lot of states, and if walmart does not sell to them..... Its a lawsuit.

So private companies should be forced to sell products to people?

Like some said earlier, bet you were for the bakers being able to discriminate... can’t be one or the other.

A private company should choose who they want to sell to

So you are for the government forcing companies to do something only when it fits your narrative

State laws, city laws...etc, they all come into play. You can not sell a product and refuse to sell to sell it to a legal aged person!

I have a feeling they are about to stop selling rifles altogether or they will lose a lot of law suits!

Sounds like the snowflakes don't want to let the market decide.

I thought the drinking age was 18 in LA up until the 90's.

More like 1985-ish. I remember my gf at Tech was pretty pissy about the change as she was gonna be just short of 21 when it was scheduled to change and there was some indecision on grandfathering the current 18-20 year olds. Then they did grandfather her in and all was fine.

Louisiana's age discrimination law only applies to people over 40 years old.

Delaware already prohibits the sale of handguns and rifles to anyone under 21 by law.
