Voters Punishing Trump!

I love this trope
You live in Mississippi, Kansas, Iowa, etc
You vote for a Democrat Senator to “punish” Trump because gas is high, and will probably go back down soon anyways
Trump is gone in 2 years and will spend his remaining years on a luxury golf course.
You have to live with a Democrat Senator who wants you replaced by someone from Somalia, for at least 6 more years, but likely more because incumbents are difficult to replace once they get established.
Who is getting punished again?

Trump should’ve been punished in the 2024 primary. If GOP primary voters and caucus goers held him accountable for fricking up 2020, 2021 (runoffs), and 2022, last night doesn’t happen.

I like RDS and would have preferred him over Trump
But also recognize that he would not have won a national election and probably can’t win one in 2028
His big issue was Covid… which was a hot topic when he was really popular circa 2020 to 2022
But with the millions of brain dead dolts in this country… Covid may as well be the Spanish Flu! It’s ancient history and RDS would have to find a way to make a national name (while out of office) independent of Trump without completely drawing the ire of Trump loyalists
The name of the game is winning and building the coalition. This is how it works… I know that sort of talk is painful for the utopian purists to grasp
