IDK MAN theres quite a fricking good bit.
O.k., so you're talking about getting the government out of the way...removing tariffs, ostensibly stopping federal subsidies that result in people bidding against each other for housing, removing federal mortgage programs to reduce the demand on housing, that sort of thing.
Sure, absolutely, but that doesn't just affect young people, it would affect everybody. And when you assess housing intelligently—which means factoring it by cost per square foot and factoring in the cost of the mortgage, housing isn't expensive right now to begin with. Kind of your standard middle of the road, "more expensive than some periods and less expensive than others." That's part of the manufactured narrative. See below. The reason people think it's soooooooo expensive is because they are comparing it to 2010-2020, which was the lowest period on the chart (due to such low interest rates), and they ignore any other point of comparison.
Anyway, those are policies I always support as a conservative. Not so with MAGA. MAGA loves big government. Thus the tariffs.
But you're also talking about forgiving student loan debt, which is a big frick no.

Day to day, I see a lot of people in that demographic out there grinding every day. Amazon drivers bringing all these packages to the house. Landscaping crews out mowing neighbor's yards. Cleaning their houses. Bringing your burger to you at the drive in window. Helping put that pine straw in your truck at Home Depot. Volunteering on NextDoor to watch your dogs.
Affordable housing. Making a living wage. Access to healthcare without having to worry about going bankrupt. Affording the gas in the car because they have to commute to work.
There may be those on the "public dole" getting hand outs, but there's a lot more of them out there trying to make ends meet and a lot aren't able to despite trying.
That's where politicians on "both sides of the isle" have failed. People need hope and when they don't have it things like this happen. I just hope something meaningful for our Country begins where it matters to most.

I think the biggest shift is that different 18-30 year olds voted in this election versus 2024, not that so many of their votes changed.

Well I hope they know this won’t lower the housing costs.
If anything, people may stay put in spite.

The US mortgage per square foot is a dumb argument unless you are blaming 18 year olds for controlling the housing market and forcing builders to build bigger starter homes

Woe is you.
You whiners are insufferable.
Tell that to all the posters saying “Cuck!” and “Libtard!” and “Kamala lover!” When these things are brought up.
The issue is less the delusional and/trolling idiots saying these things, and more the people who won’t call them out for it.

No. Consider what I wrote.
I proposed zero percent interest rates on loans. The only "forgiveness" that would happen would be to people who have already paid their balance ie: 10k paid of 10k loan but due to interest rates its still for whatever reason 5k balance (these are very small numbers, the avg loan I think is somewhere around 35k).
We can get out of the Student Loan game too for all I care.
The proposal I suggested was a pretty bi-partisan and still holds people accountable for the principle.

I think the thing that gets lost and what you just said is this didn’t start two years ago when Trump got elected.
Do y’all not remember four years ago ????we started talking about this inflation and gas prices the same BS that’s been talked about now so it’s being disingenuous in my opinion to blame all this on DJ T or Republicans.

This is the greatest time to be alive. Anyone can make millions in the stock market. Salaries are literally 10 times higher than when I started.

What people need is truth.
The truth is that this economic period is no harder than any other in my lifetime. The particular challenges might be different, but they aren't more egregious.
The fact that people are so fricking convinced that they are so much worse is the problem, and like I said earlier, you can't fix a hallucination.
When I post on here that populism will be the end of our society, this is exactly what I have been talking about. The false narratives, doomsday predictions, conspiracy theories, just get worse and more and more people buy into them as the infection of populism continues to spread.

I also think everyone seriously underestimates what losing Charlie Kirk did to the Republican Party.
Pisses me off more than anything, less than 2 years from killing one of the largest republicans for their perspective the dems are rewarded with this.
The fact it wasn’t a bigger part of the election reflects how big of pussies the republicans are

You say "no," then say:
So that's a yes.
The people who agreed to the terms of whatever loan they volunteered to sign up for did it of their own free will. Why should the taxpayers pay it for them, whether we're talking about interest or principle?
Because that's what would have to happen. Right?
