Huh? Not all jobs are quantified by widgets produced per hour.

Yeah. Almost everyone who does it. That's why they (you) are so committed to doing it.
If you say so.

If your private sector boss is enough of a sucker to let you "work" from home, that's his business.

My taxpayer dollars pay these leeches salaries. That makes it my business.

They need to come to work.

you should have led with this so I could gave just ignored you.

Absolutely. I see it every day.

How do you see it every day if we still need to do this? That math ain't mathing.

I'd also like to see some evidence of people willingly leaving jobs to collect unemployment over WFH going away.

If you want to get rid of people, just figure out who is weighing down your team and remove them.

This irrational hate for Work from Home is dumb. I don't know what it is with bad managers insisting on making their employees unhappy, but these morons just need to go. Work from home is here to stay, other well-run companies will take the effective employees that want to work from home, and you will be left with mediocre people that can't get better jobs.

Great point. Many people would just quit and wouldn’t need to be laid off

Yes

Many more would quit if they had to relocate

Most every study shows that for these types of job remote work increases productivity.

I'd like to see those studies.

I'm skeptical from the outset, but I'm really skeptical that government paper pushers get more productive from home.

Any of those studies specifically study government workers?

All of the people screwing off "working" from home have joined the thread.

This discussion always ends up just like trying to convince weed addicts that no, you're NOT a better driver when you smoke weed.

They dont leave for unemployment. Unemployment is for folks who get fired. Do you understand what unemployment is?

People leave every day from jobs that work in office or hybrid to go to fully WFH jobs.

He said get your lazy arse back to the office 5 days a week. Love it. I will call this the purge, federal and private.

Nah frick that. I would cost me and my wife about $300 a month in just gas alone to go back to the office. So unless they want to compensate frick all that. I am more productive at home and my quality of life is better

I got our convo mixed up with another. I'll give you that.

But if you fire fed workers for cause, I do not believe they can collect unemployment. I would rather cut the dead weight for cause in lieu of losing the good workers over eliminating hybrid schedules for everyone.

But Vivek's supposed plan will get faster results, so I won't argue against it too much.

Its eazy to spot tbe folks in this thread that work from home.

Also easy to spot the folks in the thread that can't work from home and are jealous.

The problem our company found with mandating employees return to the office is the good employees can easily find other remote gigs, while the lower skilled employees stick around and are underproductive in the office. They just bitch about being in the office the whole time.

Why it's frowned upon to force underproductive employees into the office while the productive are allowed to work from home is a mystery to me. I work from home 2 or 3 days a week and I have no option to not get my job done. I'm available for my 8 hour shift and if it takes me more than 8 hours to get my job done, I work until it's complete. Software Development. I can't understand why a company wouldn't at least want to reduce it's rent bill.

federal yes, private no. if a private company feels like it's better to have remote workers, the govt shouldn't tell them otherwise.

This is stupid.

For fed gov whatever.

For private business let the employer and employee decide what is best.

I mean we are the party of freedom right?
