This implies that the Klan gave her father permission to sell insurance. If that's the case, they are the worst racists ever. In other words, sounds like BS.
For the person talking down about "paper Americans", that's just a bad take. Most of the people I've met who fit the bill have been extremely grateful for what this country has to offer. Many of our grandparents were "paper Americans" who fought their own brothers and cousins in WW2 because they believed in our country's values more than family ties.
More often, it's their children who hate America. You can blame that on the parents, but it's a difficult situation. You don't want your kids to experience the same hardships you did, but that usually comes at the expense of valuable life lessons that help you appreciate what you have.
