You nailed it, LS. That's exactly what happens. That's why I've always said and felt that for this perception to change, the good, decent, law abiding blacks in our country are going to have to step up and denounce this behavior and inner city violence. Government can pass all the laws it wants, but until the national black community stands up against the violence and criminal behavior, the perception of the "usual suspects" is never going to change and will only get worse. I, for one, appreciate and applaud your honesty and wisdom.

Because like that small child they’re raised to accept it. It’s just a part of everyday life. Poverty and identity politics are bad enough on their own. Mixed together they’re a toxic nightmare.
And that’s not exclusive to black people. I have a dirt poor cousin that lost teeth in a bar fight no one stopped. and another one that’s in jail for fighting someone over a motorcycle. I don’t associate with them.

FWIW, most white people don't group you together the way you group yourselves together. I'm not embarrassed when I see white trash because I don't identify with them, and I don't identify good black people with black trash.
I know it probably sounds that way because when discussing problems "black culture" is used as a generality, but there's no other way to talk about large groups of people. I had my annual bloodwork done today and a really talkative and funny black woman drew the sample. It would never occur to me to associate her with someone like the woman in the video just because they have a similar skin tone.

I take it that was her kid that tried to run to her mama for shelter? If so, that is really fricking sad.

Apparently that kid is the black womans biological child. The white chick is dating the dad of the kid and raising the kid because the mom is in jail and never around.

I feel like these days, you try to break it up and the cops will arrest you too for being "part of it".
Try to intervene and the news becomes "2 white supremacists gang up on local black mother, more at 11".
My natural instinct would be to try to break it up but man does the current social climate make me hesitate.
