That's why i posted the numbers. It's also why i said that the coronavirus appears to be more deadly, however, China's ability to treat victims is not as great as ours. Also, there is a lot of missing information such as the population range of those who have contracted the virus, and the mortality rates among those age ranges. I will guarantee you, it is similar to the flu/pneumonia, considering some provinces of China had a death rate of 2.9% while others had a rate of .4%. WHy do you think that is?

Why would 1/10 of humanity effectively be under marshal law right now if it was just the flu?

You want to know why a communist country does communist things?

Even if it was no worse than the flu, the complications of people getting sick thousands at a time in a single town will put an insurmountable strain on our healthcare system.

Listen, you want to believe the media sensationalism, then fine. Go build a bunker and we will call you in April when the virus dies down.

Italy, Iran, South Korea are communist?

And what media sensationalism? They’ve been pretty quiet. I do listen Dr John Campbell who has a very reasonable and logical take.

It is her job to think worse case scenarios and being prepared isn't the worst thing possible.

Remember when the Bush administration posted preparedness info for gas and dirty bomb attacks? THAT was fear mongering.

Basically: you need to have about 4 weeks minimum of canned goods stocked up.

We already have it. If you wait, there won’t be enough.

My guess would be that the majority of China is akin to the 3rd world with little to no sophisticated healthcare infrastructure. Also the govt is completely inequipped to deal with this - which shouldn’t surprise anyone.

I don’t think we have a large enough sample of other cases to feel comfortable about the mortality outside of China....but I hope you’re right.

I did just drop $80 on some MRE's and bottled water at our discount supermarket yesterday, but I agree that this is basically a nasty flu that's going around.

Well, um, Iran is a totalitarian regime... so there's that.

Then there is Italy.

quote:

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte stated earlier this week that the country had also cancelled all air travel between Italy and China.

Seems pretty reasonable, considering it is a new virus, and the outbreak originated from Chinese nationals flying to Italy. Not sure where you are getting marshall law from.

and then South Korea

quote:

South Korea coronavirus cases near 1,000; 11 dead

That's a 1.1% mortality rate.

quote:

South Korean President Moon Jae-in clarified during a meeting with aides on Tuesday afternoon that there would not be a regional blockade

So again, still not seeing marshall law, but hey. You want to work yourself up into a panic, have at it.

It's an attack on the economy and stock market to hurt Trump for the election.

Don't think it's political? Ask China. Have you heard any noise from Hong Kong lately?

Not one person in the US can caught the virus in the US. They all in China or in Japan I believe.

It is spreading where there is socialized medicine. You may think that is a coincidence but our standard of living provides a lot of protection here, thanks to capitalism.
