LINK
Venezuela arrested employees of Chevron for refusing to sign a service contract with the state owned oil company for furnace repairs and maintenance.
The employees balked because of high prices and a lack of other bids.
In short, socialism continues its swirling down the drain, arresting people who are refuse to take the kind of losses the state insists on.

The Bernie experiment seems to be working well down there, eh.

If I had to guess it was probably against their company policy anyway

Honestly, I am surprised they are still there at all. It's been a few years since I spent time in Venezuela for O&G stuff. It was always a shithole place to do business (at least since I started in the early 90's), but we did make a good amount of money off their idiocy. I always kept our risk/exposure to a minimum, though, and it was always a "fly in, fly out" business.
I wouldn't have any hard investments or permanent staff there then, much less now. How many times you have to see that place expropriate your stuff before you get the idea there are better places to be?

It's amazing to watch this happen.
Venezuela has more proven crude oil reserves than any country and they can't even provide basic staples for their people.

Arrested for failing to make a state mandated purchase.

Equality of outcome means everybody has the right to equally starve to death.
“But the USSR, Venezuela, Greece, China, North Korea, Cuba, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, etc etc. didn’t implement Socialism the right way!!!”

Hmm, I am not sure what to think about this until Michael Moore, Sean Penn, and Bernie Sanders weigh in.

Until you have infrastructure there, then you're eff'ed.
Friend of mine ran the coke conveyor system for all the ports in VNZ and sure enough, "nationalized property". Fortunately, he had a damn good insurance policy on them.

PDVSA is now mostly run by military and they are basically bilking the company. The contracts probably included payoffs to PDVSA executives...I'm actually shocked that CVX had people in country. You couldn't pay me enough to expose myself to that shitshow.

Socialism always devolves to naked power and force. These idiot hipsters who embrace this shite have not the first clue what they're asking for.

I've never spent a dime at Citgo. I don't want any blood on my hands.

From Vox so take with sodium
So their pay would be docked when not working and if they violate a court order they could be fined or imprisoned.
Big freakin' deal.
Now the immediate termination seems a bit much. But is still LIGHT YEARS away from what is going on in Venezuela.

Two Republican state lawmakers are trying to shut down a potential teachers strike in Colorado with the threat of jail time.
The bill, introduced in the state Senate Friday, prohibits districts from supporting a teachers strike and requires schools to dock a teacher’s pay for each day they participate in a walkout. The teachers could also face up to six months in jail and a $500 daily fine if they violate a court order to stop striking. Under the new law, sponsored by state Sen. Bob Gardner (R) and state Rep. Paul Lundeen (R), a teacher could be immediately fired without a hearing.
