The only other option is for government assistance. Please explain to me why taxpayers have to pay for it. Taxpayers should not be responsible for everyone's poor decisions. If you can't afford a kid, don't have one.

The question was how to lower cost…

The problem is the question itself:

Govt can actually lower the cost in one way, removing barriers and costs directly imposed by govt (regulations).

Govt can “lower the cost” for some thru subsidy (take from some by force and give to others)

That’s it.

I always thought there was a market inefficiency with how expensive daycare is, but after looking into it, and seeing a few friends give up on it, there aren't any good solutions in the market. The risks/costs are so high, which makes the wages you can offer somewhat low, which creates a tough balance.

No he tried to say that but talked in circles because he is an idiot and I'm sorry but the people at my childs daycare had no training, so don't act like there is so much red tape that people can't work at a damn daycare. His and your heads are in the sand to what is really happening in child care. Luckily for me I just finished paying, but it is out of hand.

It's laughable that you think the solution to daycare must be solved by government.

What’s your solution? All you’ve presented so far, the Harris plan, amounts to “I plan to have the govt take from people wealthier than myself to subsidize it, so I can have more discretionary income”

What about opening a daycare to provide more supply? Any red tape there?

Government subsidies drive demand and cost of childcare.

Government regulation increases costs.

Inflation due to government spending drives childcare costs.

Inflation further drives demand for childcare families work more hours to afford day to day living.

“How does the government fix this??!???”

”Waa waa waa, I can’t afford to take care of the kids I had! Waa!

That’s what I hear from you. Well frick you, it’s not my job to pay to take care of your fricking brats. Figure it out, your problem.

Competition lowers prices. Blame the government for limiting competition in the daycare market.

Don’t have kids if you don’t want to take care of them.

Do you not think that we as parents we don't try to get help from our children's grandparents? Do you not think we thought of that? As a matter of fact during the summers, this is exactly what we did. Even after doing that, child care is still unaffordable.

You can't handle your own shite, so it's everyone else's problem?

Specifically which red tape would you like to cut? I'm curious what things that have been put in place to keep kids safe in daycare that you want to cut? Please be specific about which red tape is holding someone back from opening a daycare.

The point is grandparents should be doing all that they can to help their children and grandchildren but due to lack of self-control, drinking, drugging, no financial consistency they are still working and thus costing their offspring more money than it had to.
Amen.

My wife and I keep ours whenever we’re asked, we don’t ask anything for it. My in laws did the same.

My parents do not ever and have never given us any money. We were (3 of us) expected to get scholarships and work while in university. Instead of building up your childing to be successful parents now focus on themselves and in turn end up costing themselves more money because the offspring they have produced and raised are not quality.

Funny but I did not have to get certified to help with my grandchildren. Can't you see that what he is saying is that the Democrat's answer is to spend more money (Federal public schools?), hire more people, and give away tax money (only to people who the government decides can't afford to support the children that they have).

In Connecticut, just an example, you wouldn’t be allowed to watch 4 grandchildren at once. Without a daycare license and all that entails. 3 is the legal limit.
